Tinubu Rewards 200 Top NYSC Members with Federal Jobs and ₦250K Each — See Full List of Beneficiaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a game-changing reward package for Nigeria’s most outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from 2020 to 2023. In a bold move at the NYSC Presidential Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja, the President ordered automatic federal civil service employment for 200 high-performing corps members, along with a ₦250,000 cash reward each. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Represented by Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, President Tinubu also granted immediate employment for 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who were injured while serving. All honorees are to receive postgraduate scholarships in any Nigerian university.

“Your patriotism and integrity have earned you this national recognition. You are the future of Nigeria,” Tinubu declared.

Nunaya Polycarp (20B – Adamawa, served in Kwara)

Okpogbo Alvin Chinedu (21A – Imo, served in Cross River)

Dr. Ugwa Obinna Mark (23B – Abia, served in Cross River)

Rabiu Quadri Mayokun (23C – Osun, served in Rivers)

Female:

Akase Pati Ence Nguwasen (21A – Benue, served in Gombe)

Igwe Anne Chikaodi (23C – Enugu, served in Sokoto)

NYSC Allowance Upgraded

Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande highlighted that the NYSC monthly allowance has also been increased from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to youth welfare and empowerment.

“This is not politics. It’s recognition of the value our youth bring,” Olawande emphasized.

NYSC Impact in Numbers:

2,300 medical doctors among 6,300 healthcare corps members reached 4 million rural Nigerians in 2025.

Over 250,000 corps members trained annually in tech and market-relevant skills.

Tribute to Fallen Heroes

NYSC DG Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu honored four corps members who died during their service year, calling them “heroes of national unity.”

“You may no longer wear khaki, but you now wear something greater—the confidence of a nation,” he said to the honorees.

Let me not even talk about Gambia, Rwanda, Angola and South Africa.
I have been to these places, and I know what I'm talking about.


House officer here in Gambia is receiving nothing less than 800k a month, while in Nigeria, you can't get more than 250k!
Imagine the rubbish, and government expect workers to be loyal and diligent.

All of these nonsense is happening and some state governors are using building of government houses to embezzle billions of naira. Even the president is lavishing millions of dollars on football players.

What did they use in the selection process commendable anyways

a Job is long enough than cash of ANY AMOUNT they could recv, 250k can help them settle or AIDE for a relocation n prep for the JOB OFFICE ASSUMPTION

Justified but meagre but at the same time commendable from him, unlike the whooping 100k dollars dolled out for the falcons. Falcons did a great job and deserve commensurate rewards, but dishing 100k dollars approximately 155M naira to over 20 people when the Citizens are in period they are told to bear pains for the country is unjustifiable.

Our leaders need to rejig their reward structure
Not everything should be based on populism or public appeal
NYSC members go through squalor and deprivation to serve the country
Armed force members lay down their lives everyday for the country
Teachers sacrifice everyday in unfit conditions to shape the country's future
Policemen fight dangerous criminals and security threats everyday to ensure the country is safe and orderly
None of the above should be jettisoned simply because they do not "make the nation happy". They all deserve their fair due.
Whatever you do for sportsmen to gain public appeal should be extended to these folks as well
Leaders should shape the right value system

This bad economy will sip off any amount any politician give u in matter of days.

What is the yardstick for measuring their 'outstandingness'? I appreciate the gesture but I think it would have been better providing those jobs and awards for those who came out tops in their academics right from graduation. So far I see NYSC as a waste of time and none of the activities contribute to the future endeavours that the participants would take part in so how do you use that to decide who gets rewarded or not?

But just that we believe more can be done, with the money Nigeria generates and also with the removal of fuel subsidy.

For me, I just want the government to create avenues where youth can gain employment and all this complaints will end
