Tinubu should not ban any importation.

Never!!!!

Let it be open to everyone.

Cement- Dangote- Monopoly
Salt- Dangote
Sugar- Dangote

Now Oil- Dangote.

Then that's very wrong, and don't forget Dangote is a new player in the game, and the government has to be liberal not like before when what ever he says, the government does..

The oil cartel will not accept, they even prefer to sell at the least profit than Dangote take over oil refinery from them.

Did you not go through the article? It's cheaper importing into Nigeria especially when it's imported from a country like Russia.

Hmm. You should rather take your advice o. Reading is life

Dangote mentioned that some importers bring subsidised fuel or crude oil from Russia into Nigeria. This, he said, affects local pricing, forcing refiners to lower their prices below production cost.

All these shows is that the FG, Dangote and IPMAN are taking Nigerians for a ride. It is almost certain that petrol can be a lot cheaper and everyone is just playing games and looking to squeeze the masses for every kobo.

If its true that its cheaper from Russia, then its probably only because they are looking for an outlet for their processed crude due to sanctions. So maybe they are offering it cheaper. The fact that the so called cheaper fuel is coming from Russia in particular is highly suspect. Why not USA, Europe, Middle East or Asia?

Good news...

But the challenge with importation is the need for FOREX. Hope it won't put pressure on our currency. Well, Dangote also imports crude I guess, so 2 have already cut 4.

Please don't forget gas prices as well.

Thank you all

This is not about competition... it is about strifling a big company that employs about 5000 Nigerian through substitute importation

Nigeria has its cost perculiarity, that is why we have some thing at high cost..

Cost of security, cost of power, cost of high taxation , cost of transportation.. all this are not added to cost overseas...

So if someone jettison all those concers and invest $20B in ur economy, u hv to give him some level of guarantee ND protection ..

If Dangote fails.. NAIRA will reach 3k, more than 10k ppl will lose job...

It's the FG responsibility to mk it work.. but ...

Should we calm down because ebilokan is finally ready to deliver his own promise of crashing petrol price below its January 2023 level?

Or not yet huh

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

However, pump price of fuel hit N537 per litre days after Tinubu ended subsidy.

On Tuesday, the price climbed further to N617, a development that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed to “market forces”.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.

On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.

Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices,” he had said.

In most of Europe, up to 30-50% of the pump price you see is made up of taxes, which we don't have even 1% tax on petrol yet. So thats part of the reason why the pump price is a lot more expensive.

Is it this one that Dangote wants Government to ban importation... Hehehe

No way... Let the competition continue and Importers hope you are ready to fight it out with Dangote 😂😂😂

I saw recently online that Dangote refinery is already causing problems for European refiners

Dangote refinery is big and probably other African countries are already buying from Dangote, thereby reducing purchase from Europe as it's transport efficient

Wao, interesting days ahead

So what's your point? Ban importation? Tell me you are joking right

Let importation continue, and the competition continue, then let the winner WIN 🏆 🙌 😁 😁

With time, we shall experience a heavy drop in the price of fuel. The more the merrier, more licences should be given to investors to build and run refinery of various capacity, including modular, this is what they do in Indonesia and they don't have fuel crisis.
