Instead of the west to present a cerebral and schooled man like Fash for the highest office, they presented a junkito..

Wonders shall never end.

Hope you won't pass down this lie to your offsprings.
Where did Tinubu "label others betrayers'' biko??
AMINDA:
Fashola remains one of the few leaders with Omuluabi ethos remaining in the Southwest. Tinubu has labelled the rest as betrayers. The Yorubas should be careful not to hinge their entire political and socio-cultural future on the inordinate selfish ambition of one man.
It's because of generational lies passed down to you and which u are now passing to ur children that sw are now actively preserving their history in whatever way they can.
cool

History can be preserved while some names necessary to be changed to correct their sense
how can you preserve history when it's elements are being terminated?
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by richie240: 10:47am On Jul 30, 2025
That's why we are not the same.
The ways and manners of southwesterners is absolutely different from that of southeasterners, so won't it be madness for one to impose his values on the other??

Did lagosians complain to you that 'ogbomosho' is holding an elective position in 'lagos'??
Why not face ur lane instead of meddling in other ppl's affairs.
cool
Sermwell:
It should be preserved by allowing the real lagosians do so, and not by people from ogbomosho

Lagos history will surely be preserve. The people without history can't change the history of Lagos.
Why do you hate "the people without" history" so much?

You're always attacking them.

Are they breaking any laws by exercising their rights in their own country; Voting, building their own houses, investing in your communities, coming out from their Villages to hustle.

What exactly are their crimes?

If you have no answers, then know that you are only aflicted by the demons strangling Nigeria; Ethnic and Religious bigotry, corruption,Nepotism and Mediocrity...

Exorcise these demons and let us all be free in this country. If you can't then the laws must be enforced to make All the bigots in Nigeria(Of all tribes) to rein in their demons..

...starting from the ban laws on Nairaland....

What exactly is the Crimes of All these other tribes(apart from Fulani herdsmen's crimes) to your tribe??

I need answers

Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by Originalsly:

For history to be preserved, it means you have to honor people who worked hard to actualize that street.

An Igbo man renovated a treat, brought street lights into it, sand fill it and fixed bad spots on the street. He earned the title and named after the street.

Now, someone from no where wants to change it because of tribalism

Now Fashola is saying, don't changed the history. Let people know how it came into existence
Tribalism really runs deep and is the main reason why we aren't making progress. Let's chew on the above. The man is not named ... but his tribe is... tribe ...the priority. The man renovated the street ...meaning the street was already there...he basically repaired it. Who built the street? ... didn't it have a name? The one who repaired the street earned the title. With this kind reasoning ...the street will need repair again and again .....so whoever repairs it earns the title . Is it not every few years streets will change name? Can one imagine the changes in the record books? ...land titles? ...house addresses? Tinubu son decides to renovate several streets....and earn the right to rename them ... can you imagine how many streets will have the same name? ...maybe a number following to distinguish one from the other?

Streets and their names have a history and this should be preserved...this is what Fashola is saying . Some streets that do not reflect our history ... no problem in renaming them...streets that celebrate the colonialists .... the oppressors.... they need to go ...but we are too colonialized to dare do such a thing .

it was your brother a Yoruba man that called Lagos no man's land

Lagos is our land, no gang up plan or mass relocation to Lagos can change the fact/the history.
That's the point, history can never be erased
Igbo fore Fathers were party and parcel of Lagos development...
That can never be erased....

Let us fold our hands and watch where Tinubu and his ethnic politics is taking Nigeria.

The most interesting truth is that most of this people claiming and changing street names are not actually from lagos.
They are not lagosians by origin, just other yorubas who came from different states in the South West.

A lot of them don't even own half plot of land in lagos.

Fact remains that time will come when the real lagosians will be able to take over political leadership in lagos
You mean the politicians who have the people’s mandate do not own half a plot in Lagos huh
Wake up Emeka
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by ArcSEMPECJ(m): 11:01am On Jul 30, 2025
It is only people with inferiority complex or insecure that think that the history of a place can be retained by changing the names of the place to the local names of the tribe in that place....

History is not restricted, it is diverse, you can't erase the name of the first missionary Western man who came to preach about Christianity in badagry and after which a Street was named for him to remember his good works ...

All those are history, if you really know what history means, so changing the name of a street possibly when the street was a bush and someone came and single handedly made the street a better place, and later you will come to say you want to preserve the history of the street that it is this tribe that owns it so it must bear the tribe's name .....lols it only smells of inferiority complex and fears...

Yesterday, Gov. Soludo renamed a Street called Club Street which was called Abakiliki Street after Former Gov. Obiano named the street as Club street, he corrected such ethnic issue as the Abakiliki people felt they are not regarded in Awka, he has to rename the street back as Abakiliki Street because over the years the Abakiliki people have used that place as their dwelling place....

So, anybody coming to the street will always ask, why is this place called Abakiliki Streethuh...

Like I said it before, Tinubu has helped many Yorubas have a say in this country and their say is pointing towards tribalism and bigotry..

Let's start from you.
Does your family own any land in lagos?
This people renaming street, yes the politicians who are Tinubu boys are they lagosians?
I challenge you and your kinds to the fact that the real lagos indigenes have no qualms with Igbos but the other yorubas who came to lagos just as the igbos came are the ones doing rubbish in lagos. But their time will expire sooner.
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by Nchenches: 11:19am On Jul 30, 2025
One of the histories of Lagos to maintain are:

(1) When Akinola Aguda recommended that Lagos cease to be capital of Nigeria, loads of Yoruba in the federal civil service moved to Abuja. But the Igbos who were traders in Lagos remained in Lagos. These Igbos contributed taxes that were used to build Lagos. They also built houses all over Lagos.
(2) Proceeds from crude oil from the Niger delta region built Lagos.
Please don't distort the history of Lagos.

This change of name and Ronu fights is mostly carried out by people who have failed to achieve anything for themselves. They see every successful foreigner as having come to take their birthright,

Like a typical xenophobic black South African, they will worship the white but fight their fellow African.

It takes very poor thinker to believe that by renaming a street, your have taken a hit at a tribe that came from ground zero barely 50years ago and surpassed you in many climes
Why always them? South Africa protested. Recently Ghana protested. Soon, Malaysia, Indonesia will get fed up and eject them. Why only you? Something must be wrong with you. Better look inwards instead of playing the victim card. Yorubas are naturally accommodating but when you overdo they can show you their other side. Why are Hausas and Fulanis not complaining? As you lay your bed so shall you lay on it. Obi is not a good leader. Instead of uniting his people into mainstream politics, he keeps playing ethnic politics. Evidence can be seen in the last election. Got 90% of his votes from SE unlike Tinubu that worked across tribes.

I've mentioned this thing tire, you cannot impose your cultural norm of origin on another ethnic group. For instance, in Japan, it doesn't matter where you were born or your parents prefecture of origin (their own state of origin), you can become a mayor of any city provided you're a registered member in the city's council records. Someone born in Kyoto can become Tokyo's mayor if the person is registered in Tokyo's records. Your parents' origin has no basis. It's dependent on the city you're registered.

So, if Yorubas from say Kogi decide to become political office holders in Lagos, you - especially a non-Yoruba - don't have the right to challenge it.

Una no wan hear word....

You may not live to see, but all history can be distorted by victors who can rewrite it.
Lagos has a history and it is been rewritten .....that makes it a confused one...but it is history

Emaka stop this your fury of ignorance, Lagos is only a political division of area for administrative purpose, the place as a whole belongs to a tribe Yoruba only, joined together by same ancestors and Language. Because someone created a state out of yoruba land then named it Lagos does not stop it from being yoruba land. Even part of Benin republic that is yoruba land by ancestor, we are not dragging it with Benin as close as they are to us, Why is Chibuke trying to grab another mans land all the way from far across river Niger.
Live your life be in peace with your host, no this lost tribe will be chest beating everywhere like donkeykong, from Lagos to Ghana and South Africa causing one trouble or the other over peoples land.
