Avatar has been in the works since the 90s before the creator of atla thought of the idea, James Cameron didn't just have the equipment of these times to go through with the visuals of Pandora that's why it didn't go through then like his other block busters, film that we had to wait 13 years for a sequel. grin
Yes, its conception predates the last airbender but Cameron borrowed elemental tribes from them.

The MOvie came out barely a month ago and it has grossed 500 milli plus, and people are comparing it to Man of Steel that grossed 600 milli since 2013huh

It looks like bad belle is written allover that post.

I saw the trailer, and oh mann, beyond the obvious stunning visuals, and i didn't know what else i was supposed to be looking at😩...

I guess James Cameron has earned the right to be creatively stagnant at this twilight stage of his career, and the only thing he seemingly cares about is toppling Steven Spielberg, as the highest grossing film maker of all time, and he is just 2bn greens shy. That's probably why he is still insisting on this film.

the movie have already made it's production budget and 200 milli plus extra, I still don't want to know what some peeps think about it not being successful.

I was on this thread live when Abduleez was confidently boasting that the movie would hit $1B without fail. Maybe he went back to edit his posts after reality set in, I don’t know , but I remember clearly how he went band for band with anyone who said it wouldn’t reach that mark.

And I’m sure others saw it too.

So, let’s see that $1B “strongly” he promised. Or are we pretending that bold predictions don’t come with consequences anymore? grin

wEll, it can still make a billi, considering the fact that it's barely 1 month in cinema and it's made 500 milli and counting. So, let's wait and see.

$1b is not possible
$700m would be a miracle.
It will still be profitable at the end of its theatrical run

That's suppose to be the whole idea. From the criticism Batman Vs Superman received, the movie is still successful. Honestly don't know why people think a movie making a billi is the only success attache to it.

Come to think of it, The Mask didn't even make half a billi, yet it was a very big success.

Nobody said it must make a billi to be successful. However, when people make boastful predictions about how far a movie will go, you don't expect us to just forget about such claims, do you? grin

One of the reasons people expect Superman to gross a lot of money is because of its budget and marketing cost.
The Mask earn just around $300m, but when you compare that amount to its meagre budget, you'll know why it's regarded as a massive hit

You are so generous my good sir, this is was a special...special 1.5/10.

It's like the filmmaker took an udemy free course on sound design and film editing and just impulsively decided to make this, because tbf, that was the only good thing, this filth of film had going for it, even i got tired of it at one point, especially, the kill shot of the zombies, when the frame freezes, and unfreezes, looked like a first person shooter video game and a bad parody.

The script was so unbelievably bad, like zero redeeming qualities. It actually starts good, holds enough tension and solid premise at the beginning, boy i thought, these Mfs where taking me somewhere good, after those first 15 minutes, then the story just went flat, zero pulse, dead!.

Like a 12 year old boy with zero zombie killing skills wants to save his mother from his father, left a zombie proof protected enclave, and just went into the wilderness filled with Zombies with zero plans? Like who the hell wrote this trash?? 😩.

They slapped Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer on the face of this, and neither really had a anything to do with this movie tbh, the former was on screen for like 5 minutes out of a runtime of almost 2hrs? Naaahh, this film is the bottom of the bottom barrel...Good fking grief!...and Critical Drinker was calling this filth, one of the best movies of the year in his review!!😩.

Mannn, i can't even catch a break, i went from seeing "To kill a Monkey" to this dirtbag, Home or away, dem dey carry me handicap, when does it actually end?? 😭

Anyways, if you have never taking any of my recommendations seriously, please take this one... stay away from this travesty for your sanity, and for the safety of your precious precious data, in this Tinubu economy...Èdàkun 🙏🏿

The producers felt the movie would be so good that they shot it back-to-back with its sequel. Thanks for taking a but bullet for us, but we'll need you to complete the good work by dropping your excellent review for the sequel by January 2026 tongue tongue

If the ratings of this remake are that high, I guess it does justice

All the critics that were raving about this movie deserve to be flogged.
It took me two days to finish 28 years later.

The only part of the movie that makes sense is when the kid and his dad went to the mainland.
After that the plot got nonsensical, everything about the movie just dey vex me.

A 12 year old who can barely kill zombies took his sick mother to a zombie infested land to find a doctor. At the end the journey turned out to be a complete waste of time.

In addition to the weak plot, this movie is also boring.

When the credits rolled I was asking myself, "is that it? What is the point of this movie?"

28 years later is a 2/10

Please avoid it.
