ycat:Abuja was created from existing towns also, there were indigenes also, that doesn't take away the fact that Abuja was built by Nigeria and not the indigenes |

christistruth01:The British used Fernando po port, now Bioko in equatorial Guinea as their main port in the region until the Spanish claimed it before they turned to establish a main port in LAGOS in 1913. The British did everything for LAGOS, the Yorubas never built any single port |

ycat:It's was oil boom money from the nigerdelta not Yoruba money, who dash you richest region y'all been deceived |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by ycat: 8:56pm On Jul 29, 2025 |
No, Yoruba’s money was used to develop the oil, but Yoruba haven’t taken a kobo from the oil money even though we have oil too. We’re spending less than 20% of the money we contribute. This is what you all know but won’t admit, because you think we’re fools. Let Nigeria go regional where we all keep our money to ourselves, it’s then you will know that Yoruba are the ones floating you. The British called us the richest and the influx of you and your mama both walking and crawling to my region confirms that, not to talk of the money generated from my land. okpouman: |

The only Oba in Lagos before British came in 1851 was Awujale and he didn’t invite the British. So I don’t know where you got Oba rivals in Lagos from. okpouman: |

How was Nigeria able to pay for the war and come out without debt No one was selling oil during the war Oil did not build the Niger bridge Lagos was carrying Nigeria since 1898 and seeing money to London during the world war Oil became an issue AFTER 1973 So when you say who DasH you I say EDUCATION https://www.nairaland.com/4144976/lagos-1898before-nigeria-not-oil The port of Lagos has been generating wealth since the 19th century When the Niger Delta was hunting periwinkle there were street lights in Lagos. Take this to CHATGPT or other tool difference between passports of Colony of lagos and Protectorate of Nigeria passports Before independence in 1960 People still needed passports to travel and those of the Colony were different What was the Colony? Territory agreed in the Treaty of 1861 by the ELEKO OF EKO Lagos. State created by Gowon In 1967 was different Thus that word Lagos. as far as Colony is concerned was Territory that was under the Eleko later called Oba of Lagos That Territory became the capital of Nigeria in 1914 and remained so till 1991 It is NOT Lagos State So when next you hear Eko Idumota know that Eko is that. LAGOS that was capital for77 years |

aribisala0:Nigerdeltans were great oil palm traders, stop all these,Lagos was never a match to nigerdelta, LAGOS was built by the British prior to independence and the FG after that |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by okpouman: 12:35am On Jul 30, 2025 |
aribisala0:The seat of government was LAGOS island but the greater LAGOS was developed for the creation of a capital city, there's no capital city in the world that is just a small area, all capital cities of countries especially large ones are big cities, Nigerias capital couldn't have been restricted to just a small area,it's practically impossible. |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by okpouman: 12:36am On Jul 30, 2025 |
ycat:There were several obas right from gabaro to oba dosunmu or akitoye who sold LAGOS to the British |

okpouman:Do not just argue your wishes or desires bring facts All capital cities are not big cities What is the capital of Ivory Coast Switzerland Canada Australia They are very small Canada and Australia are among the largest countries on earth You are just guessing cluelessly Stop making up imagination ignorantly What is greater Lagos? Why don't you talk about Greater Enugu Oyo Kano Sokoto Kaduna because those states bear the same name as one of their towns You people just make up stuff and you think you are making sense Argue with facts not rationalisation Lagos State was created in 1967 Lagos State is a State it is NOT a city It is different from Lagos City the former capital Before the creation of Lagos state In 1967 Ikeja division Epe Division Badagry Division Ikorodu Division WERE PART OF THE WESTERN REGION UNDER AWOLOWO THE BOUNDARY WAS THE RAILWAY CROSSING AFTER OJUELEGBA AT IDIORO You conveniently forget it is a state with different and separate towns LGAs and rulers You come from God knows where and start telling us our history |

aribisala0:Capital cities are big cities,Abidjan was originally the capital of ivory coast before it was moved and it's legacy continues like LAGOS. The so called boundary thing ended in 1967 and only lasted for few years before that. The federal government has estates like Festac, satellite town( which still houses estates of several government agencies including NNPC, CBN ,nepa etc) ,there were several other FG establishments and infrastructure scattered around LAGOS,which spurred the rapid development of Lagos more than anywere else, more so ,the most developed part of Lagos today, which is the heart of Lagos is the island ,the so called erstwhile capital, which remains the nucleus of what makes Lagos, LAGOS. You can't wish away the influence of the former capital of NIG being in LAGOS, Western region only lasted a few years. Without the LAGOS island,Lagos will probably be in the status of a port Harcourt |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by okpouman: 9:21am On Jul 30, 2025 |
aribisala0:epe,ikorodu badagry division till date do not make the core LAGOS. LAGOS island and mainland plus apapa,amuwo-odofin makes the core LAGOS and they were part of the erstwhile capital Lagos |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by aribisala0(m): 10:26am On Jul 30, 2025 |
okpouman:Capital cities are not always big I gave you 4 examples Abidjan Is not the capital of Ivory Coast no one asked you for a lecture Bern the capital of Switzerland is tiny You said big countries have big capital. Did you? Yes or no Canada is bigger than AMERICA Ottawa is small Canberra is small Your claim is fault you are dishonest and unreliable We cannot take you seriously The Federal government has Housing estates in Owerri Port Harcourt and all over the country So what? Does that make Owerri the capital of Nigeria? You keep bringing up irrelevant stuff showing disorganised and illogical thinking You say something stopped in 1967. Where is evidence because you wish it is so? Did anything change because Enugu state was created Did the whole stage become a bigger Enugu? |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by aribisala0(m): 10:36am On Jul 30, 2025 |
okpouman:What is core Lagos What does core mean Define it? Who agreed to that Is there a core Anambra or Core Ebonyi or core Abia Anyway you are contradicting yourself The point is that The capital of Nigeria was the Colony of Lagos established in 1914 in 1967 Lagos State was created by adding territory from Western Nigeria Badagry division Ikeja Division Ikorodu Division Epe Division I Lagos state was never capital of Nigeria Amuwo-odofin was partof Badagry Division and part of the Western Region It was not part of the capital. It was not part of Lagos Division You cannot bring Ibo stronghead to come and tell us our history There is nothing like core because you think there is or should be Amuwo-odofin was in the old Western Region |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by aribisala0(m): 10:59am On Jul 30, 2025 |
okpouman:The worst thing you can do is when you don't know and you try to use Ibo stronghead to pretend you know I will help you The former capital is made up up 5 Local Government Areas 1. Lagos Island 2. Lagos Mainland 3. Apapa 4.Eti Osa 5. Surulere That is it in summary |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by okpouman: 11:23am On Jul 30, 2025 |
aribisala0:Yes,these are still the core and most developed parts of LAGOS till today, except ikeja |

aribisala0:All development in amuwo-odofin started from 1967 after Western region, spurred mainly by FG, eg Festac,Festac extension, satellite, navy town etc. Core means mainstream or most developed parts of LAGOS. |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by okpouman: 11:28am On Jul 30, 2025 |
aribisala0:I meant big countries by population not geographical size, Canada is a relatively small country population wise,as well as Switzerland, again all populated countries have big capitals ,most of your so called Western region area of today's Lagos were deep forest, it was the FG that opened them up Western region control stop 1967 and even prior to that Yoruba rule of the Western region was only for a brief period about 1954 to 1967. LAGOS ,the whole if Lagos was the capital of Nigeria. |
| Re: Lagos State Was Never Nigeria's Capital - Reno Omokri by aribisala0(m): 11:38am On Jul 30, 2025 |
okpouman:Where does that definition of core mean You don't write like you went to school The subject is Lagos state was never the Capital You said there is some thing called. core Lagos and you say it means mainstream what is that? Did the Federal government build Housing estate in Owerri ot Calabar or Enugu So why is Festac special So building Festac makes that area capital Why does estate in Egbeada not make Owerri capital of Nigeria ? The point Most developed? according to whom What is development what does that mean |
