For 8 years, APC leaders and their supporters fed Nigerians with this line: "Buhari is the best thing to happen to Nigeria."

They defended every policy failure, every economic misstep, every security lapse, and labeled critics as “haters”, “unpatriotic”, and "enemies of Nigeria".

After Buhari handed over to Tinubu, they flipped the script: “Tinubu inherited a bad economy.”

The same economy they praised under Buhari suddenly became a disaster, by the same party that ran it. This is not just hypocrisy, it is pathological lying and gaslighting at a national scale.

For 8 years, Nigeria's economy worsened, inflation surged, debt skyrocketed, reserves plunged, insecurity reached record levels, yet these people swore that Buhari was delivering unprecedented achievements.

After flipping from “Buhari is the best” to “Tinubu inherited a bad economy”, APC leadership and supporters have now entered Phase 2 of propaganda: “Tinubu’s catastrophic policies are necessary sacrifices.”

People can't afford food, transport fares have quadrupled, businesses are shutting down, unemployment has risen to unprecedented levels, but their defense is always “It’s for your own good… endure the pain now for a better tomorrow.”

Here is the glaring and obvious difference between the propaganda vs the reality:

For Buhari (2015 – 2023):

Propaganda: “Buhari’s policies will save Nigeria.”
Reality:
- Nigerians plunged deeper into poverty, Inflation jumped from 9% (2015) to 22% (2023)
- Naira collapsed from N197/$ (2015) to N740/$
- Unemployment increased to 33% (2020), one of the world’s highest
- Debt skyrocketed from N12 trillion (2015) to N77 trillion (2023)
- Over 133 million Nigerians became multidimensionally poor (2022 NBS).

Now with Tinubu (2023 – 2025 so far):

Propaganda: “Tinubu’s catastrophic policies are necessary sacrifices.”
Reality:
- Fuel subsidy removed on day one, fuel prices jumped from N185/liter to over N950 today.
- Naira floated, exchange rate collapsed from N740/$ to over N1,500/$ (2025).
- Inflation at 34% (2025), food inflation above 40%.
- Transport costs doubled, cost of living crisis has worsened.
- Nigerians are suffering even more with no clear plan in sight for relief.
- Ethnic tensions and potential for violence are high, possibly the highest in Nigeria's modern history.

For 10 years, APC has impoverished, gaslighted, demonized, divided along tribal lines, and betrayed the people they promised change and swore to protect. Voting APC out of Aso Rock in 2027 should be a matter of urgency and national security for Nigerians.

Most reasonable and decent opposition write up in a long time. Not the excuses of always lying that there's an Obi or Atiku that could have done any magic. If opposition could campaign with these type of rhetorics they will be taken more seriously not gaslighting and subtle threats.
