You can see the hunger in their eyes. Hippos are crucial members of riverine ecosystems. It's unfortunate they are not protected in Nigeria.

Nigerians are usually very short sighted. One of the reasons it will be hard for this country to change.

No long term planning especially from the leaders
Are the leaders looters foreigners? Or they are allowed to emerge from among us into leadership positions in the private sectors as well as in the local, state and federal governments in either the legislative or executive branch huh

How are you working with others to make us think about the future and the impact of our actions on society from different perspectives?

How will this help us to get out of the mess of extreme poverty that has exacerbated in the past decade of APC progreThieves?

If we are not oyinbos, then why are we praying and fasting to japa there and make their oyinbo places better voluntarily, unlike the slaves we forced there over a 400 year period?

anonimi:
The migrant crisis in Libya and the Nigeria experience

The drive for survival and for greener pastures has continued to force millions of West African young men and women to gamble with death in attempts to cross over to Europe and other parts of the world. This quest to escape poverty, hunger, unemployment and insecurity, among other reasons, caused a major segment of Nigeria’s population to seek alternatives for better livelihood prospects for themselves and their families.

Those seeking economic survival see irregular migration as the best alternative, given the difficulty and resources involved in migrating through regular and legitimate routes. In many instances, very few of the original number who set out on these dangerous journeys live to tell their stories. While many regularly drown in the Mediterranean Sea, many also die in the deserts, and others are sold as slaves in a modern slave market.

Most of the victims of this trade are from West Africa. Many of them leave home with expectations of getting to Europe and other destinations perceived to have better economic prospects for them, but they end up in the slave merchant nets in North Africa. The victims are put in camps and sold in open markets in Libya, while the international community watches in silence. The geographical location of Libya renders it a transit route for migrants journeying to Italy and many other parts of Europe.

How does delayed gratification work in this situation to improve the probability of having food to eat for longer in the future?

We are richer than Libya....It's all perspective...
If.we.were.next to France and Italy like Libya we would have emptied Naija.....
Fast-forward...strangers would take over and we would return as branded slaves.....?!
The world has always been at the precipice.....

They should send this people to Colombia.
I hear say Escobar's hippopotamuses are breeding in large numbers.
If the hippopotamuses must be contained, they should invite this set of Nigerians.

A huge Hippopotamus was Spotted in Shelleng and then later appeared again in Guyuk LGA of Adamawa State. It was hunted down by a number of youths and finally killed.

The hippopotamus really has meat in it's body that left me speechless. Infact the meat in this animal can feed the whole of my village. Lolss

The youths were jubilating and full of gratitude, thanking God for the provision and expectant for another one...😊😃

Many people are criticizing the youths online for killing the animal instead of taking it to the zoo and kept for tourism. The truth is that you cannot keep something for tourism when you're hungry. The western world preserve this things when they find them because their government do not steal money and leave them hungry. Thats the same way our ancestors depleted the wildlife for prosterity.

Setting up wild life park??
With what money?? On whose land?? With what equipment and technicalitieshuh

You want them to allow a dangerous animal roam through their streets without doing nothing…
So the hippo life is more meaningful than human life, same animals that won’t think twice before doing you harm if you stray into their habitat…

If you delay, someone else will eat the Hippo. I would rather be the someone else.
Also, rather than commenting on Nairaland, what is preventing you from going to Adamawa to establish the Hippo reserve? You want someone else to do it while you post on nairaland.

Posting on nairaland is to create widespread awareness about our environmental priorities until enough of us appreciate the issues well enough to form a critical mass to drive sustainable solutions such as the marine ecosystem reserve.
