There is a plant called Akintola.
We are used to naming things after people probably whose name were generally known when that thing became common in the environment.
NOTE: It is not all parts of Yoruba land that adopts those names. It is called so in Ondo state but not in Ogun state.

It literally means ojukwu brain or ojukwu head.

My grandma has many of such pot and that's what she calls them

Maybe because the pot are rugged and ojukwu is stubborn or literally ojukwus head is big,

If you look at it, it’s a compliment.

Agbari means brains

The pot cos it’s big is named that. It can simply mean Ojujwu had a big brain.

Those terms are used in Ogun State
You can go to AJASE in Benin Republic and ask them whether they use those terms

I learnt those terms years ago not from Ondo

Not a plant, but a "wild weed' that is used for reforestation and manure, same as "mucuna" beans, (not sure of spelling), as the leaves are shed regularly. It is so called in Delta and most South South states, not just Igboland.

I may be wrong in citing Ogun state.
My point is that it is not all states in South West that calls it that.
Those names should not be seen as insult but circumstantial.
Thanks.

Ewe Akintola.

Back in the day, when you are bruised from playing football, your friends will grab a handful of that ewe, mash them between the palms and drip the resulting fluid on the injury.

I think it made such bruises heal quicker.

Can you imagine ajebo indomie generation going through that grin

Is the plant still around.

It was everywhere back in the day.

The plant "AKINTOLA" is also well known in Kwara State and some parts of Lagos, e.g. Ikorodu to be precise.

It is often used to stop fresh open wounds from continuous bleeding. It also has other medicinal uses...
