A Nigerian man has shared a disturbing video of his brother, who is being held hostage by kidnappers alongside several others in Benin, Edo State.

In the viral clip, the kidnappers can be heard speaking in Hausa, instructing the victims to tell their families to pay ransom or face death.

In a chilling moment, the captives are seen holding and passing around a human skull as they plead for help from Nigerians, begging for their lives to be spared.

The video, now circulating widely on the internet, has sparked outrage and renewed criticism of the Nigerian government for its perceived failure to address the growing insecurity in the country.

I don't really get it. Is it that our security operatives are lazy, dumb, corrupt or all of the above. These videos has metadata, the kidnappers communicate not by hand written letters but with phones and sim cards with identities tied to them. With a good Osint these guys can be tracked, our security agencies have the tools, resources and every other thing they need. Is it because those kidnapped are just like every other person, whose death are seen as a normal occurence?

This is where we need the New Sheriff in Town.

Kidnapping for ransom is now a thriving business because the security agents are not doing enough to curtail the situation. And to the posters above who mentioned Fulani...this is for you....Since kidnapping is now a profitable business, every Nigerian tribe is now involved; same way they started POS business when it became lucrative. Recently, a year plus old baby was kidnapped from a creche in Abuja alongside his nanny by a Tiv man and a ransom was demanded. They still went ahead to kill the victims after the ransom was paid. Fortunately, the man was apprehended and his accomplice was an Ibo man.

My point is, no tribe is innocent of this growing menance and knowing Nigerians, they won't stop as long as people keep paying ransom and the security agents cannot use the ransom as bait to nab them. At this rate, since the government cannot protect its citizens, we must rise up to defend ourselves. I can imagine what the victims are going through and I don't wish that on anyone, but they should have it in mind that they are dealing with their fellow humans and the reason they are scared is because they are not armed. In other words, they are not afraid of the kidnappers but only afraid of their guns. What if they device a means to disarm them instead of waiting to die like cowards? I'm just thinking out loud.

It is the handiwork of their people. This has been confirmed by Gov Soludo that the people carrying out criminal activities in the East are fellow Ibos. I pray for their safe return.

The south keep looking like kids while these people rip us, this set of southern governors are really lame, they can't even take tough decisions to protect the lives of their people.

Southern governors come together, form a regional militia to take over our forests, only militias can route these kidnappers and herdsmen from the north out, militias are used to staying in the jungle and forests, why are these governors so inefficient?

Okpebolo secure your state, no be to dey sing on your mandate everywhere, protect Edo people, this is your fundamental duty, you are not there for Tinubu or APC, you are there for Edo people. Work with Edo state parliament and approve automatic AK 47 for the vigilantes. Even a child knows local dane and shotguns can not do anything against AK 47.

I will keep preaching regional government

When I say Nigerian political elites have failed, this is a perfect example. For those pushing the Edo state governor to do something - which he won't do anyway as he's an APC member - the reality is that nothing would happen.

Months ago, there was rampant kidnapping in a part of Edo state; traditional rulers complained, youths cried out for help as their women were killed and lands intruded into. As no help was forthcoming, they prepped themselves and decided to enter the forest where they believed hostages are held and the criminals (Fulani herdsmen) conducted their activities. What happened afterwards? The Nigerian police went to the said community to arrest the youths! I'm not making this up - everything is on Google.

Omo, it's seems this country is doom, what is going on, is this the same Nigeria that I used to be. 🤔

The biggest mistake Nigerians ever made was allow Muhammadu buhari become there president. It take the blood of many many Nigerians to undo the damage buhari did to this country. We had a terrorist as our president for 8 years.
