Hi Nlanders, I am about to seek admission into NOUN to obtain an M.Sc. in Public Health. I work for my state government and am also an entrepreneur. Due to the nature of my job being demanding. I am thinking of doing my MSc in NOUN. But what is holding me back is, is it internationally recognised. In case there is an opportunity later in future won't i be sidelined because i attended NOUN? Do conventional university recognize them assuming i want further for PhD?
It has same recognition like any other conventional universities in Nigeria.

All I can say is give it a shot and you won't regret it. Talking about if the certificate is valuable outside the country? Yes.... If you're using it to seek admission.

They are NUC accredited, so it's clear and since you already work for the gov't, level up that MSc.
But you seem Japa-inclined, why not focus on that with all that energy you're about to put in this programme?

I had a masters in Information technology from NOUN and it is recognized in Canada. infact it greatly helped in my immigration process by boosting my CRS score by over 30 back then.
I also wish to pursue a Master's in Information Technology at NOUN, but I would like to know if it will be accepted for a PhD in Computer Science at other universities.

If they do that which I doubted in the first place is costing them at the long-run, however some of the their lecturers are used to supervise NOUN students writing projects. This is the beauty of NOUN, is hard to cling anyhow first class in noun and you can do your exams anywhere in the world now,(I wouldn't recommend that though cos that AI called proctor go fail you anyhow 😁), you can't cheat in exam hall as each department has a color of its own and if you're fortunate to sit beside same color it may be a MSc student so no wuruwuru, if you want to make it in NOUN you must apt upstairs.

NOUN is nationally and internationally recognized. Foreign universities and institutions seem to recognize NOUN more than most Nigerian traditional universities due to NOUN's high operation standard that reduces exam malpractice and student sorting after exams. They also employ more computerized system than most traditional universities in Nigeria.

It is the same with your traditional universities.

NOUN seems to maintain higher educational standard than most Nigerian universities.

The fact that you don't know who sets and mark your exam makes cheating and sorting almost impossible.

It's a great school.

Many Nigerians that graduated from there used it to gain admission at reputable universities abroad and even in Nigeria.

So go ahead
That NOUN gain international recognition than the traditional Unis? Uhh and no sorting u said. Say what is subject to validation!

ABU Zaria also operate a distance learning model, all classes are online but exams are physical, the exam center in Lagos is at Ogba, and they also offer Bsc and professional masters programs

This is their website, https://abudlc.edu.ng/
Thanks sir. I just emailed them now. My bsc is Industrial Chemistry, and they listed biochemistry and others, which my course not listed for masters in public health. I would have loved it if they accept me o.

you can check on the university website, I think for PHD here, you apply like you are applying for a job and any professor who has a funded research can accept you based on your qualification in terms of your masters project topic etc. I am not sure but please check the university website or write an email to any professor in the department you want to study in the school you want to study. they will respond and let you know. but I think PHD is mostly based on :
1. available research that has funding
2.your project work or research in your master degree more importantly than prestige of the school you did your masters as long as the the school is accredited in Nigeria..

Only if you're like 60years plus. But if u are still young , it's either you are lazy, or very busy doing some other things cos l u suppose compete in UI, Unilag etc.

It's like a 17 year old boy doing university part-time program.

Only if u want to do it for doing sake cos your prospective employer will doubt your adaptability to d university rigorous system.

I won't employ NOUN master to lecture in my university.
Local mentality, open a University first before talking about employment.

Please can I have a look at ur Transcript if u don't mind.

This is becos both NTI and NOUN dey fear me

You can blurr or cover ur full names, personal details and grades.

I just want to see the list of courses u did in the program and how the transcript really looks like.

Do they write the University name on it or the Institute.

This is becos a lady said it caused big problems for her when she wanted to move to USA.

My dear. That ABU Zaria can run person street.

I checked through their program.

You pay per course.

One course is N20,000.

While in NOUN,

One course is N3000.

You can see NOUN is cheaper.

If u will go to ABU-DL, hold money o.
Yeah, I know that NOUN is cheaper, however, I'm not doing any program with ABU Zaria, it's my friend and he's started already.
