Saudi is not there because Saudi charges just 5% for American imports but your country Nigeria charges 35% and yet wants US to charge them 5 percent ..all Trump is saying reduce your tarrif on American goods and we will be fine

You guys don't even understand this tariff of a thing. It's Americans who will pay those tariff. The goal is to make the prices of goods from these countries expensive for Americans, so Americans will patronize their own products.

In the case of Trump, he's doing reciprocal tariffs. He looks at the tariff imposed on American goods by some countries, and then reciprocate.

It's a better thing to do than the illiterate beer parlor approach that Buhari did by closing down the border selectively.

The tariff is for Nigerian goods going into the US. How will that make us sink into poverty? Is it Nigerians will have to pay more for US goods? ...or Americans have to pay more for Nigerian goods? The tarrif is on goods coming into America, why can't China lower their tarrifs so other countries would have their goods flooding into China why should they think of s only ending to other countries.

This is welcomed. We have been through all these and we are well able to sail through the odds as a people and a nation. Trump, you have tried for us.

He seriously is the dumbest person alive. These tarriffs are a tax on American citizens. Donald Trump is too stupid to know that the it is the citizens of the country that buys imported goods that pay whatever tarriffs are imposed. So American citizens will be paying more for imported items from Nigeria.

Tarriffs stifle demand across all chains of production. With reduced demand comes slowing down of the economy and rise in unemployment levels. Economic depression can result from arbitrary tarrif applications as we see Trump doing here.

The last time this utterly insane blanket tarriffs was done was in 1930. The Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act, passed in the US, caused the worst global economic depression in human history. Trump is too stupid to understand the cascading and boomeranging effects of what he just did.

In all this, the winner is China as more countries will seek to improve relations with them. The world cannot keep tolerating American bullying for long.
