President Bola Tinubu has ordered the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Ministry of Works to the Presidency.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement following Thursday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was presided over by the President.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the directive is intended to enhance the coordination of geospatial data management and provide more direct oversight of national mapping and land administration priorities.

While the minister did not offer specific reasons for the reassignment, the move is consistent with the administration’s reform agenda and its increasing dependence on geospatial intelligence for planning, infrastructure development, and security mapping.

The OSGoF is the country’s apex mapping agency, responsible for providing geospatial information, data, and services.

Smh. You're absolutely ignorant of this issue. It's largely for national security reasons , real time mapping of where ongoing FG projects are sited , FCT land allocation and the Presidency to address the embarrassing mining rights complaints arising from the alleged corruption in the Cadastral office.

All past Governors of Lagos state have information on the geospatial data of Lagos. It's foolhardy to need the FG Surveyor General to get documents and information at your beck and call.

Many of you peddling false information should remember to be prosecuted.

Go to court and sue, Nairaland is not a place to display sections of repudiatable laws. A law that is totally and absolutely inconsistent with the constitution of Nigeria. How many of the Lagos State officials inviting ethnic tensions have you charged under you so called laws?

I dont know if it is connected but I know recently a policy was enacted that requires that all federal projects must have their exact Geo coordinates. This is to identify the physical location, reduce or eliminate ghost contracts and monitor the progress of federal contracts.

We have 3 set of disease that is affecting the nation presently.
1. Tribalistic= choose tribe over good governance.
2. Corrupt= choose corrupt people so as to make his gain..
3. Over religious= they choose religion over best governance.

And you can see in every comments on each section.
We have them in churches, music industry, drama industry, marketplace.

So you expect a politician with 2m investments to borrow 20m from bank and dash you to win election. How do you expect him to pay back with interest?

Cos the SG controls boundaries of all states and geographic spread or areas.

They determine which land belongs to FG in every state of Nigeria
