Blogging is almost dead.
Internet has gotten much faster and people are now more interested in images and videos.
That's why Social Media has taken over the Internet.
Big Nigerian blogs like LindaIkeji is almost dead.

Content creators have moved to Social Media, YouTube to leverage on the traffic as no website can compete with them.

pure lies. Money from website is still much now. Infact I just lunch my wordpress website last month. Hopefully by this new month, I will get the domain on it and start to blog. Once your website is monetized, you are a millionaire already. Na to work on your blog and start to earn big. What you guys lack is social media marketing. Linda ikeji blog make used of social media marketing and it works for them. The likes of instablog9ja, gistreel, gistloverblog and other blogs are doing fantastically well in their blogs. You should ask them how much they earned per month. All these big blogs I mentioned are still much viewed every day. You should work on your own blog and strategize how to succeed with it and not discouraging people that loves to blog. If you want to sell your AdSense here, state it here and see people that have interest in it will rush your ads account. Blogging still pays big. Go and ask legit.ng blogs how much they earned per month. Some bloggers even have 3-5 blog websites they earned from it. Huge dollars going to their various accounts monthly.

He has even removed his monthly visits update in the Nairaland Ads category for the obvious reason.

Biggests 'blogs' in Nigeria today are social media blogs not Weblogs. Instablog9ja is by far the biggest blog in Nigeria today. It's a social media blog, Bellanaija Weblog is almost dead while his social media page is growing strong in daily basis.

Those guys are not stupid, they figured out the trend and moved on.
Linda Ikeji's blog use to get over 100 comments on the average, today she hardly get 10.

Spaming social media webiste links hardly work, people just don't like clicking on the links. They will like, comment and share put to click na the problem.

Also, check the top 10 most visited sites in Nigeria today. Remove Giant social medias and see who are dominating - gambling websites and por.n, shoping websites.

It use to be Nairaland sitting comfortably at number 1 followed by the likes of LindaIkeji, Naijaloaded etc.
Nairaland is now number 4, struggling to get 10 monthly visits, use to average if 30 million monthly visits.

this is a typical example of a blog I'm talking about here, it has over 4.8m followers on FB alone and not talk of twitter and Instagram apps. Once you click on that links, you view the news on their website and the Google ads statistics keeps increasing. Why can't you ask this owner how they succeed and excel in their blog journey. Ask questions and don't based things due to your funny experience in the blog journey. As far as Elon musk is the richest man on earth , he has website where you can access him. Infact his social media site, X formerly twitter is now the richest and fastest website in the world people viewed per second. You just have to package your blog well and market it for wider acceptability.

Mr. Man, Nairaland is closer to being a social media site than your traditional blog. But even at that, its traffic from search has dropped significantly because of the emergence of AI.

Back in the day, as bloggers, when we searched for a keyword and saw the likes of Reddit, Quora, or Nairaland ranking on the first page, we were usually thrilled because we were almost guaranteed to outrank them. That’s not the case anymore. Google dey pamper them now, especially Reddit.

In 2025, starting a blog means you’re entering a war zone. You’re up against Reddit (good luck with that), Google’s own AI snippets (the one at the top that now answers all the searched questions), AI tools like ChatGPT (I don’t even Google stuff again), not to forget Google's frequent updates; core, spam, helpful content, etc., which gets worse for every new release.

After all that, you would still battle for attention with traditional social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok. Then there's even YouTube.

That AI snippet will defeat the purpose of getting traffic from Google searches as the searchs are being summerised by Google ai from the content they stole from the highly rated websites on the search term.

Google is getting too greedy.

It's unfortunate that some of our people have not realised the potentials of YouTube and social media content creation.

I created a YouTube channel earlier this year, generated like 5 videos using AI and abandoned it for other productive channels.
Towards the end of June one video from the channel started gaining tractions, as at July 5th it had met the monetisation requirement.
I applied for monetisation and was approved.

I offered to sale the channel as I have no use for it.
By the time Nigerians are coming to my WhatsApp to price it their normal dead cheap price it has made $100, even at that they were still pricing it like 200k.

As at the end of July it has made over $170.
That's like 250k for doing almost nothing.
And the content is evergreen, the traffic comes mostly from Playlists, recommendations and suggestions. The one video alone is making between $8-$10 daily.
The same channel I was begging Nigerians to buy for 500k that they will recover the investment within 3 months.
Seems like it will hit 600k+ earning by August ending.

I hate it when Nigerians beg and engage in fraud.
Take your pc or phone, join YouTubers and social media content creators.
Those guys are not special or better than you.
If you are serious and learn one or 2 things about video creation you should be hitting like 300k monthly for a start which is not bad for a 'jobless' person.
