You want to eat your cake and have it. You want one country Nigeria, but non Yoruba tribes must remain strangers in Lagos. Typical mindset of one with inferiority complex. |

Godfullsam:You people don't see Nigeria as one country and is never gonna be a nation, in view of your clutching tight to stranger-indegene phenomenon in Lagos built with oil revenues and taxes from all the tribes of Nigeria. But because of proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region, you people clutch tight to one Nigeria. Hypocrisy. |

Lagos state is the only state in Nigeria where the aborigines of the state are barred from becoming the governor, senator, House of Reps etc..by the invading hinterland Yorubas. This injustice must 🛑. |

This is one battle the Igbos can't win! Indeed all Nigerians contributed and continue to contribute towards the growth and development of the State but to go about claiming that it's a no man's land is vexatious, insulting and unacceptable. No matter how hot the sun may dry a piece of cloth, it can never make it to disappear. Lagos State belongs to the indigenous people of Lagos State. Disputing this obvious truth would only make life more difficult for those contesting it. Come chop no mean sey you go carry the pot of soup take run. Easy does it! @hotseat |

BrainScanner:Oga streets can be renamed at anytime as obviously is within the power of the authorities. Where there may be an issue is if it has adverse under tones or does not take some sensitivities of the locality into consideration. When my pops passed away here in alimosho area of Lagos, the local government recognised his contribution to our adgbo and decided to rename the street a major road in the community after him, a street with a yoruba name, for personal family reasons the family declined. Despite that for the first time ever honor was given as the street was shutdown for the day of the burial, the local government and people of the area Yoruba, igbo, hausa etc folks played major roles. Anyway my adgbo is decent, a bulk of people grew up together, from grand parents to the present generation. Oga it is the present group of politicians that act in a way to sow divisions. Majority of folks in that charlie boy bustop area or the ilaje street align with those street names, infact those bustops were named by the residents of the areas. I remember back in the day when passing through that area, Charlie boys house was what we will look at as an attraction looking at his motorcycle hung high up. No right thinking politician (without ulterior motives) will decide to go against that community by renaming such a place. Good to know decent, proper Nigerians especially the Yoruba folks have come out to show displeasure. |

Lere making enemies up and down because of Wike who can discard him whenever he pleases. What's his business with the renaming of streets in Lagos, not even in Abuja where his boss is the CEO. |

agentNija:Think of it this way: Lagos is the commercial heart of Yorubaland, much like Paris is to France. Before the British amalgamation of Nigeria, the Yoruba people, across what are now six Nigerian states, had a well-structured monarchical system. Each town or settlement was governed by an Oba (king), in council with chiefs and other key officials. Importantly, this wasn’t a dictatorship; the Oba’s authority was balanced by a council of chiefs who represented various segments of society, ensuring a form of consultative governance." "Now, just as a French citizen from Marseille or Lyon doesn’t need permission to belong in Paris, a Yoruba person from Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ado-Ekiti, or Akure doesn’t need to justify their presence in Lagos. They are not outsiders, they are part of the same cultural, historical, and ancestral family. Yorubaland is one body, and Lagos is a vital organ within it." "The Yoruba people are not guests in Lagos; Lagos is part of the Yoruba civilization. Our dialects may vary slightly, but our Oríkì, deities, traditions, and ancestral claims are deeply interconnected. So when we say 'Lagos belongs to the Yoruba,' we mean all Yoruba people, not just those whose immediate forebears were born on Lagos soil." |
