I have been to these places and I sometimes wonder who they expect to drive on this huge wide roads and bridges when the population is so few and largely fishermen with subsistence and free-oil money indulgent lifestyle. Is government going to be giving them free vehicles too ni?

This is how government build huge expensive projects that will be underutilized
You dont complain of the resources from these place that is shared to other unproductive areas, the road is too narrow in my opinion. The economic benefit of the road is unquantifiable.

I base here in bonny and this is a highly welcomed development.
Bonny island is a small local government in rivers state that is surrounded by water. Crossing over to port Harcourt which is about 1hr journey using speedboat cost #12,000 for just a single person, house rent and the prices of both foodstuffs and electronics here are also things that are entirely unfair. I strongly believe this bridge would make living a bit bearable to some of us. But definitely, I know so many people are fighting for it not to be completed because businesses would be lost. Especially for the boat owners.
They don't have any choice nah how can any sensible person be fighting to stop this type of project that's definitely going to save lives because of selfish reasons?

Do u even know the kind of oil investments that's located in this bonny island? Not only the people living there that will be using the road but also oil workers.

Sustained Funding and contract sum variation has been a major issue with this project since inception. Umahi almost cancel the contract sef when Julius Berger increased the construction cost by 30% last year. It was Tinubu who insisted Julius must continue because of the swampy terrain.

Dollar was N250 when the contract was awarded many years ago.
No wonder. Because i am wondering why the road is taking so much time plus so much noise laced with some controversies on it.

Always put the future into consideration, Construction of the road will bring more developments to the area.More house, business , companies etc will spring up akong that route thereby increasing the population,The road will accommodate the changes.
where does the large chunk of revenue come if not from there (zone). you're simply against giving back quality to the people. its good thing you're not the government

Tens of thousands of people for a whole year you say? That's even less than the number of people inside University of Lagos( UNILAG) Akọka campus alone or Bodija market in Ibadan on a normal day yet it doesn't take this kind of multi-billion gigantic infrastructure.

For the same ifs you raised, you don’t need to spend these billions and destroy a lot of the ecosystem and the natural barriers against flooding of those small settlements that sometimes have less than 100 residents who are mostly poor fishermen.

It is this kind of projects that the minority tribes in Alaska have fought against for decades. Oil companies operations platforms are not usually next to the settlements but this road will even after many of the settlements have been destroyed for the road they don't need for survival. Kuku say they built road for oil workers
You may be sounding logical but your logic is simply out of ignorance so also are the people who liked your write up.
I don't even think you know that place or you go their regularly.
That island or that Local Government is among the richest in Nigeria. With lots of oil companies there.
Do you know the risk traveling on boat. I have had bad experiences travelling there not only me but numerous people. Until they have to create extra security people were being kidnapped at Bonny sea at some period. That travelling through the sea was a high risk journey. Due to lack of road to bring goods and other services the cost of living in the island is extremely expensive. You are here speaking out of ignorance and those of us that go there for work are looking forward for the completion of that road projects.
Because I said tens of thousands you are saying it's not enough to have road there. That is laughable because you don't know that the capacity of that few numbers is even greater than even hundred thousand of people else where.
So it's not in the numbers it is in the capacity of the numbers.

They better start planning for security now because when economic migrants start moving there en masse, crime rate will sky rocket.
You are right on that one. That was what I told some people earlier when I was in Bonny. and they are very much aware and I think the security agencies are looking into it.

I don't understand this your post. The thread is about Bodo-Bonny and you're posting a news about Bayelsa.

For your information, Bodo and Bonny are in Rivers State. That bridge if completed would provide a huge relief to the people of Bonny. It's going to attract more development to the island.

. This guy's comment is something else. I do not know why humans are so wicked. I don't think he has ever been to Bonny before, because if he has, he won't be saying all this rubbish. The road will bring more development into the place. So you believe Victoria Island and Lekki are more important than Bonny. Those are islands off Lagos, and Bonny is an Island off Rivers State. And the difference between Lekki and Bonny is that Bonny generates far more money for Nigeria than Lekki and Victoria Island.

Please leave it for Us. How much is Bonny Island Generating to Nigeria on Daily Basis, Do your findings, The huge oil servicing equipment being shipped in every month, considering all that, do you expect them to commission Road Dualization project in the future. It's better now. This is a major Link Roads/Bridges that will host Heavy Duty Vehicles.
Our Environment has being constantly polluted By gas Flames from SHELL,NNLG ETC let's have this one(LINK ROAD) that has the inviting power of Ethnic diversity, so the town can be starred to better economical Competition for more development.

This are the kind of road Jonathan should have fixed. How can in a twenty first century, some of our Niger delta brothers, still paddle canoe or uses speed boat to thier places when the land is blessed with huge oil and gas. God bless late president buhari for the vision and starting it. There are several places too in bayelsea. Jonathan really failed us.Three refineries out of four are domicile in south south, warri port and others, east west road and delta steel company (DSC) in aladja we're all comatose under his tenure. Five years is enough to fix all those I mentioned but foolishness wouldn't allow him to think upright. He just wasted our glorious chance to be economically liberated in Niger delta.

Dont be so myopic. it doesnt suit you. speak on matter you know something about and not on something you know nothing about. Are you aware that NLNG is one of the financial of that project. Is Nlng making its money in your so called Lagos or in Bonny. and do you know how much it cost NLNG monthly just to Run its boat services between Port harcourt and Bonny. Mind you it boats services only carries Personnel and some goods. If you su that amount for a year it might cover up to half this project cost and they have been running that boat service without fail for 20 years.

That’s a fair concern, but the point of infrastructure like the Bodo-Bonny Road isn’t just to serve today’s population it’s to unlock future growth. Bonny Island hosts NLNG and other oil operations worth billions. This road reduces reliance on boats, improves logistics, enhances security, and opens up economic opportunities for the region. Population may be low now, but development follows access. Roads don’t just follow people people follow roads.
