Hmmm

Mid fielders and attackers...there's a reason they command the most pay in most clubs. Other positions requires exceptional talents to score a high transfer fee.

Definitely the midfield position.
You do all the thinking for everyone else! Planning playing and pressing...all are for the midfield man.
Even when a game is started by the goalkeeper the midfield man already begin to position himself to dictate pace, pass and punch to the opposition!
..the left wing back and right wing back is a very difficult position...they have to run to the front to support the attacks and also cross ball to the attackers in the box 18 and they also have to run back to defend when the team they are playing with are attacking and want to score

Given that association football — otherwise known as soccer — is the world's most popular sport, it's no surprise that the beautiful game is the subject of near-constant debate from global fans of the game. And it's not just teams, managers, and players whose performances and skills get dissected by the masses, it's also the specific tactical roles they are supposed to be occupying on the soccer field.

Wingers and wing backs , forget it if u no get strength your body go tell you.and these positions you can't hide.. Everybody go see say u no dey game...you go come collect ball move forward...even wen ball dey your half ,any small counter u r on the run again...these roles if fitness no dey , forget it.

Football divides people (often in the most entertaining ways), and positions are one of the many elements of the game that cause people to argue and debate amongst themselves. Both elite-level performances and disappointed displays from professional players can get fans considering the question

1. Goalkeeper

The amount of pressure that plagues the goalkeeper in soccer is what makes it such a difficult position. If a striker makes a mistake, the worst thing that happens is they don't score a goal. If a goalkeeper makes a mistake, it's highly likely that the ball will end up in the back of their net.

2. Centre Midfielder

The duties and responsibilities of a central midfielder in soccer are far-reaching; they regularly receive the ball under pressure and are tasked with constantly recycling possession and making dozens of pinpoint passes each per game. Not only do centre-mids need to provide protection for the defence and break up opposition attacks, they are also relied upon to get the ball forward to attackers and contribute in a creative sense.
Getting up and down the pitch in a dynamic, targeted way requires huge levels of stamina, and central midfielders are typically the most physically fit players on the soccer field, with some centre midfielders capable of running up to 12 or 13 kilometres per match. It's a tough gig, that's for sure.

3. Striker

It's very difficult for a soccer team to win a match without a striker who is capable of finishing chances from a range of different positions. Top strikers need to be able to put the ball in the back of the net even during games when they've received very little service, and if a team isn't scoring regularly, the pressure ramps up on the people at the top end of the pitch.

Forwards are not only relied upon for finishing chances and securing wins, but also for linking up with other players, holding up the ball, putting pressure on opposition defenders, and battling physically with centre-backs who are often big, bulky and commanding. As a result, this is one of the hardest positions in soccer, and it's very difficult (and expensive) to find a top quality striker.

4. Centre-Back

The amount of pressure piled on centre-backs is massive; they regularly have to face up against some of the best players in the game, marking speedy, strong, powerful, technically excellent forwards while leading a backline and communicating with both full-backs, defensive midfielders and goalkeeper in order to keep things as tight as possible.

In the modern game, central defenders at the top level are typically excellent on the ball as well as being some of the best athletes in the game. However, this position can still be occupied by some slower, less dynamic, and less technically gifted footballers, even in top flight football, and it typically involves less running than most other roles on the pitch, so for those reasons, there are other positions that are, on the whole, more difficult.

5. Full-Back

Back in the day, full-back is often where you'd find the game's less dazzling players, the kind of operators with strong positional awareness and decent technical ability but perhaps not the skill or footballing brains of a creative midfielder or forward. These days, things have changed and the demands placed on full-backs are far more extensive; alongside having excellent technical skills and passing ability, they also need serious stamina and are required to run up and down the flanks contributing both offensively and defensively.

6. Winger

First things first, it's important to note that every single position on the soccer field has its own stresses and demands, and anyone performing these roles at a professional standard is clearly a hugely talented athlete. But when it comes to the level of responsibility associated with an individual position, wingers and wide midfielders perhaps have the most license to focus on the glamorous side of the game without applying quite as much hard graft as certain other positions.

Wingers sometimes operate on the margins of games and are relied upon for moments of attacking quality, rather than being constantly tested and placed at the centre of their team's exploits. For that reason, it's one of the more easy positions in the sport.

The goal keeper is the hardest position in soccer.

You need 100% concentration else you make silly mistakes and distribution. You will understand when you are in goal and notice how wide the goal post is

The positions older players find it difficult to play are the hardest.
Among these positions, Fullback is the hardest.

Someone the age of CR7 can't play Fullback effectively because it requires alertness, endurance and agility, but they can fair better in Striker and Center back position.

The next hardest position is Defensive Midfield.

The easiest is striker, that's why dull and old players can play it.

Infact, the harder a position is for old players, the harder the position is.

Most people don't understand the question; . . . When Midfield collapse of course the team suffers, no doubt
But the hardest position to play as an individual is Goalkeeper.
Imagine being called a Shot-Stopper when we have players like: CR7, Messi, R. Carlos, Riise, Scholes . . .
They are even always at a disadvantage during Penalty Kick . . .

grin grin grin
Keepers can be protected. They do the least runs, that's why keepers can play up to 40+

Last WAFCON, Nigeria keeper wasn't tested until the semi final match

I played the 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 positions. On rare occasions I've had to take a place between the sticks and the full back positions. I can say that the full back positions are the most difficult, especially in present day football where one is expected to be effective on both ends of the pitch
Re: Which Of This Position Is Hardest To Play In Football? by SmartyPants(m):
Striker is the hardest. You have to be really strong mentally to be a good striker. Because you will be up against 2 defenders at any given time and they will usually be on the pitch by virtue of being the biggest and toughest. What they may lack in skill, they will make up for with aggression and it will be directed straight at you. So you have to out think, out fight, out run them. Easily the hardest position.

Centre back. Because of Positional awareness. Maldini wasn't that fast, he wasn't too intimidating physically alongside Cannavaro but they were the best because of excellent positioning.

Ajeh! U go run back to collect ball from ur wing back at d same time run go front to feed Stricker and ur midfielder.

Very tough position in soccer game.
All that depends on the style of play of the coach and I think most coaches now prefer versatile wing back. Some 2 always try it but they end up opening space for their opponent to score and that was gusto problem but he is improving now

Midfield position. Midfield is the engine room. If a team wins the midfield battle, every other unit of the team will function flawlessly.

Not properly defined.

There are different positions even for those you listed.

For me, the most difficult position is left full back, followed by centre full back. After the above, I'll pick the left wing, unless the player is a good sprinter and natural left footer.

I would say the easiest position is the goal keeping...

If he has a good defense and midfield he might sometimes go games without actual action (touching the ball). Sometimes he makes only one or two saves in a game.

I used to play as a goal keeper back in the day we played street football but I always ran away from goalkeeper responsibility because I can go games without handling the ball. You can be in the post and just watch others play.

I only did goal keeper duty when the first choice guy wasn't available even though I was better between the sticks.

The hardest position is the mid field position because most times it's the engine room of a team. It connects the attackers to the defense. And one must have a high level understanding of the game to thrive in that position. A good midfielder should be able to read the tempo of games. Regulate the flow and pattern of the game.

I think midfielders generally make good coaches. Most of the best coaches were ex midfield players.( In my opinion). They make good tacticians.

Defence is the second most difficult position to play after midfield because you need stamina and ruggedity to thrive in that position. You should be strong and able to run after and neatly tackle fast paced attacks.

Infact, I prefered playing defense but after some time I would change position and go upfront as a striker because I easily got tired and didn't have very good stamina to keep up.

The attack is the second easiest position to play (after goal keepers) because if they have a hard working and good midfield to support them half of their job is done. Receiving passes, theirs is just to convert the chances created. Most times it's midfielders that create chances.

It's weird they (attackers) get the highest in terms of pay and transfer fees even though it is less difficult position to play than the midfield and defense.

I guess it's because football is about scoring goals in the end so that justifies the attention they get.

I played and was good at all positions except that mid field.

The short of all I said is that the midfield is the most difficult position to play on a football pitch.

I stated my opinion no one should quote me. Everyone should talk their own!
Do you think if man utd attackers are banking goals back to back, do you think we will ever blame onana for man utd woes
