Absolutely agree, I was at a Morehouse College alumni event in Chicago some years back and me self I bow. They all ooze class, confidence and sophistication - everybody just resemble Jay Z, Obama, Taye Diggs and Idris Elba and their women were all like cloned versions of Beyonce, Serena etc. There are levels to everything grin .

True. A lot of Nigerians unconsciously use America's equivalent of Ajegunle or Mushin to compare with normal areas in Nigeria instead of using like for like. As an immigrant you tend to see more of the hustlers until you settle down and start seeing the professionals. Entering the family house of lots of African-Americans will wow you, the history is rich and their education is top notch.

They’re just allowing themselves to be used by cowardly whites. Divide and conquer,

This is not the solution but let's accept its a wake up call for blacks to do better by each other.

It depends on where you live o bro.
What do mean by it depends on where I live? This my 27 years in the US I have lived in 7 states and work all the 50 states, anywhere you go majority of them are worthless and they live very bad life. Don't be deceived with the few good ones that you come across or see on the TV.

Well we hear how lazy the Black Americans are from the same African migrants....so they shouldn't care if lazy people boycott their businesses💁‍♀️. Black Americans need to also stay out of fights between black immigrants and white people..let the migrants fight for themselves. Also they should not involve African migrants in any of their political gatherings and fights ....let the African migrants start their own movements without them and let's see how much power they cam wield without the local Black masses wink.
You don start again with your lazy, lazy accusation. Na everyone lazy except citizens of the most unproductive nation on the planet who are in a continent that is making less than 5% contribution to the world's economy. A continent where Elon musk is richer than over three countries combined. Na only you no lazy. The African community in the US better sit up and improve on their services. Fate has given them the opportunity and they are messing up. The Nigerians among them, if their businesses collapse now some will blame Tinubu

TRIBAL BIGOTRY SHOULD BE MADE A VERY SERIOUS CRIME.

IT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUS.
only a person living outside their ethnic region will say there is tribalism in Nigeria..

There is no tribalism in Nigeria..

Each tribe in Nigeria has its tribal location and region and some tribes have bigger regions than others.

most people shout "tribalism" because they are not living in their ethnic region and want to manipulate the system of the region they are living in to favour them.

Black Americans and nonsense

The other day it was Kemi Badenoch bad mouthing Nigeria in England

It is well
Kemi is badmouthing Nigeria because Nigerian men messed up. When you hear a woman badmouthing a country the men are not playing their role. Imagine going to Kenya and all the women are very friendly and some women allow you to have fun at a cheap rate you will start shouting that country is the best in the world. When Nigerian men and leaders are not greedy but as Yaraduah said servant leaders then people will sing or praise

Even back home here eg lagos. You go to a barber and he just can’t help himself but to start gossiping about his own customer to his wife but before i stopped going to his shop i told him plain and blank that am here to cut my hair and not to listen to noise of gossips.

It has nothing to do with the African business owners.

The problem is that black Americans have been brainwashed about Africa. These people grew up believing Africa is about Tarzan, the jungle, and ‘mud huts’, so many of them talk down at Africans, believing them to be dumb, backward, ignorant etc.

Some of them walk into those African establishments with the attitude of superior beings, and when the Africans push back and assert themselves, they are termed “rude”, etc.

Because for people conditioned to see Africans as inferior, an African standing up to them feels to them like an insult.

That’s the issue.
The bolded ... in general ... absolutely true. In the video she mentioned that ... ignorant about Africans. But she also mentioned the reverse is also true ... Africans are generally ignorant about Black Americans. Why would you say half and not the other half? ... only half truth? She said she was also ignorant but is now learning about Black Americans. Some choose to remain ignorant and these are the ones that mainly have problems with Black Americans and cause the generalization.
In this forum ....many have advised those travelling to the US to stay clear of Black Americans ... basically do not live where they do ...avoid them as much as possible. Most advising have never left their State. How would such people get along with Black Americans when they arrive with the preconceived beliefs that they are bad news?...criminals ...drug addicts ..baby mommas .. gang members? You mentioned Black Americans were basically brainwashed by "Tarzan"....Hollywood ...but it is the same Hollywood that brainwashed Africans about Black Americans. The education system also had a part to do with it. Even today ...Trump is trying to get African Studies off the education curriculum. You may not know ... and even they don't know ...but Nollywood played a major role in erasing the negative image about Africa and Africans...by Africans telling their own stories about their own culture and not by Europeans. There is ignorance on both sides...and these are the ones that will continue to have a problem with each other. One aspect that is also a problem is the superiority complex .... not about Black Americans think they are superior ... but those who believe that Black Americans are descendants of slaves therefore they are all Osu ... why would they not look down on Black Americans? There are problems but as long as we don't try to understand our differences and find out misconceptions then this division will continue.

The sad truth is that Africans look down on the Black American Community and have always treated them with an air of superiority and disdain.

And that is BS.
No not always

Years ago during the time of the Black Panther movement in the time of Fela and before Africans always had love for Black Americans
The problem many of them have is lack of proper education about themselves or Africans
Many believe Africa is a country

If you think about it in the early days for you to get an American visa in the 50s or 60s it was either you were on a scholarship or wealthy

So in terms of class of Africans going to America they were elite in their outlook and background
People like Obamas father
The Black Americans had TV as their main source of information about Africans as well as documentary films like Kunta Kinte of starving children in Biafra. All these TV was deliberately used to tell Black Americans look at where you came from and they swallowed it

The history is when the Africans started having children they bullied and mocked them at school calling them names like ,Biafra or Kunta Kinte or African Booty Scratcher
They would mock the African names of kids at school.
Deep down they had grown up to accepting that they were inferior to whites and were second class and further that by extension they were better than Africans

That was the situation in America in the 60s and 70s when Africans were few.

As the numbers grew and Africans became more successful and assertive ,rejecting second class status Black Americans became resentful claiming Africans were taking what they suffered and worked for
But it is not only Africans. Latinos have bought entire neighbourhoods under their feet
At the core of the problem is that Black American women have bought into the idea of independence and so 4 in 5 of more Black Americans are not raised in a married family. Baby mamas every where with multiple fathers and no role models
.

Interesting take. One sided in my view though.

Re: your last paragraph. Why single out the women for a culture of independence? Why not also point to a culture of lack of paternal responsibility?

Boycott African Businesses by Black Americans? That is rather weird. Aren't they Cousins, Nieces and Nephews?

Hmmmm.

So, my Uncle's kids (he moved to the US in the 70s) will consider my business in the US not American enough and not patronise me but rather buy the Wigs and Human Hair from India?

Wonderment.

Whatever makes them happy.

What I wrote was quite long
I don't have time to write a book

Until about 50 years ago marriage rates were highest in the Black American Community
Now black women marry later in life and less frequently
They have more babies out of wedlock and even when they marry
They also file for divorce 4 out 5 times in any divorce they are involved in.
Ultimately a woman has a choice to wait until marriage before having children
There Is an entire Orprah Winfrey boss babe industry selling a fiction of I don't need a man to black American women
Many of them are totally out of control
I really do not have time to educate you You can research more yourself or believe what you want

What is Osu?

That is an Ibo thing

The problem is not about slavery but social class

It is very difficult for Black Africans to get US visa

Those that do tend to come from Middle class or rich backgrounds
In contrast many Black Americans ome from a ghetto background

We have ghetto folk in Nigeria but many don't make it to America

So it is like comparing people from Ikoyi to Idi Araba not in terms of wealth but mindset

Many Black Americans are from single parent households become sexually active young and have babies early we have the same In Nigeria not in the GRAs

So the education level of Nigerians in the US is very high not because we are special but because our best people get visa mostly

embarassed Well Tanisha and Shameeka are notorious for stealing weaves, why would and African-owned salon employ them?

If Tequan and Trayvon are employed at a barbershop they will most likely bring their gang violence into the place of work, so which employer will want to take such risks? They are better off looting stores like they used to do across many cities, spits.
This comment is not suppose to be funny but the way you inserted the black American names 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Generally, African migrants usually look down on African Americans and talk about them in disdain. There's no need for us to pretend about it. What we should learn is to respect and accept every individual with their differences.

@Nnamdipapa, you don't see this topic?
I have been following on Tiktok and the main reason why I made the topic about the Foundational Black Americans denying their African heritage.

To be frank, As a diasporan, I have never looked down on any BA. Also, among fellow diasporians, I can't remember anytime anyone looked down on BAs.
Rather, it is the black Americans always trying to put down and condescend to hard working Africans. There are lots of BA who are speaking up against the boycott so I don't see any difference it would make to be honest. We are only here to make money, take care of our families and live peacefully.

Exactly apples and oranges.. you are quoting history.
If every race migrated to America why is it only the blacks called African Americans.
You you saw De Niro and I ask you to describe the man you saw, you would say an American or he was white. You wont say European American or Italian American.
Funny how you skipped Asians.
They are American or black Americans
you're right .

They should be referred to as black Americans not "African" Americans..

If they were African, they wouldn't do this to their fellow African ..
