If We Allow APC To Continue, We Risk Destruction – Ex-Governor, El-Rufai Urges by iwaeda(op): 8:58am On Aug 03, 2025
According to El-Rufai, the country's prospects would be at risk if the APC is given another chance.

Former Kaduna State Governor and one of the leading opposition coalition members, Nasir El-Rufai, has called on Nigerians to join forces to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

According to El-Rufai, the country's prospects would be at risk if the APC is given another chance.

"We are at a critical juncture in our nation's history, and it's imperative that we take collective action to rescue Nigeria from poor governance and failed leadership," El-Rufai emphasised during a series of meetings with political stakeholders, youth groups, and women in Sokoto State on Saturday.

It was a part of his grassroots mobilisation campaign to galvanise support for the opposition coalition.

El-Rufai described the APC as "incompetent and clannish," warning that the party's continued stay in power poses a significant threat to Nigeria's unity and progress.

"If we allow this APC government another term, what remains of Nigeria's social fabric may be destroyed. This is the fight of our lives," he declared.

The former governor stressed that his decision to join the opposition coalition was driven by a desire to serve the nation, not personal gain.

"I didn't get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it is my duty as a senior citizen to not only speak out but take action to reverse the situation," he said.

El-Rufai also highlighted the strategic importance of the opposition coalition's adoption of the African Democratic Congress as its platform for 2027, describing it as a move to unite Nigerians under a credible alternative that prioritizes national interest over personal ambitions.

Abubakar Gada, a key opposition leader in Sokoto, reaffirmed the coalition's commitment to providing credible and competent leadership at both state and national levels.

Tinubu should start parking his bags. Because they’ve left him behind.

Following El Rufai’s advice is like taking directives from Boko Haram leader.

I know that Tinubu isn’t doing well, I’m ready to vote against him with a better candidate (not Obi or Atiku cos they are not better).

El rufais innate strength is his persuasiveness. This was why Tinubu used him to persuade Buhari to rethink his decision not to contest in 2013. The same reason that compelled Tinubu to use him again to successfully sell his candidacy to the north. In this case, he has begun a silent but effective mobilization against this government in his usual persuasive style. Those who made Tinubu to turn his back on elrufai despite putting his body on the line for him haven't done the president any favours. Who has also observed a conspiratorial kind of silence resonating across the north even among Tinubus appointees in the midst of allegations of cronyism and nepotism against the govt?

But Northerners followed Elrufai's advise and voted Tinubu in 2023 giving him 5.6m votes. Elrufai made Tinubu president and he will unmake him. You just wait and see. There's no single reputable Northerner campaigning for Tinubu in the North as at today. Lessons will be learnt.

That was a rookie mistake from a so-called master strategist. That singular move eroded all Tinubu's credibility in the eyes of Northerners. Northerners put a huge premium on keeping one's words. It's that concept of "Amana" (trust) that made them vote for Tinubu in 2023 against their son, Atiku. Tinubu has broken that trust.

Tinubu was never a strategist, he just amplified Yoruba clannish and covetous behavior, which was latched onto by the numerous failures he aligns himself with, that call themselves progressives.

For him to be seen as a leader of Yoruba isn't because he is educated, exposed, hardworking or even proactive.its because he is a vessel of their innate ambitions to hate other tribes and dominate clandestinely.

Nothing can be farther than this truth. APC promised heaven on earth; we all know we we are right now. Tinubu will make the country worse and continue the suffering meted to the masses in grand style if elected beyond 2027; coz by then he will have nothing to lose.

A stitch in time saves nine.
Re: If We Allow APC To Continue, We Risk Destruction – Ex-Governor, El-Rufai Urges by surgical:
How can anybody in his right senses wish for APC to continue, apart that they came to steal and to destroy, since their advent, in the political leadership it has been all doom, like the party is the weapon fashioned against Nigerians, it has been from one woe to the other
If not cashless, it is naira redesign, if not it is closure of boarders, or heightened insecurity to unprecedented inflation, there has been no let or respite for Nigerians for the past 10 years since they came to power, They have shown they lack compassion and empathy ,very reckless and selfish, Nigerians are been surviving through the grace of God,with many that have gone to the great beyond because of the adverse effects of the APC government on them ,which they could not survive
It is time we the people of Nigeria put an end to their reign before the kpai all of us with their incompetence and wickedness
2027 is the year of liberation
Nigerians must arise and shine
