Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, says “we may not have a country” if the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the 2027 elections.

El-Rufai spoke on Saturday in Sokoto during a grassroots mobilisation campaign for the opposition coalition — the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former Kaduna governor said he joined the coalition to ensure the APC is voted out of power.

El-Rufai, a former APC chieftain, said he is ready to mobilise Nigerians to eject the “incompetent” ruling party.

“I’m not in politics to get anything for myself. I’m in politics to serve,” he said.

“When the government does not serve the people, it is my duty as a senior citizen to come out and condemn it and take steps to reverse the situation.

“That is why we come together as people opposed to the policies of this government to form the coalition, which has resulted in the adoption of ADC.

“We are in Sokoto to begin the process of mobilising Nigerians against the APC government anywhere and the federal government in Abuja.

“I believe that if we allow this party and the government to continue for a second term in office, what remains of Nigeria’s social capital will be destroyed, and we may not have a country at all. This is a fight for our lives.”

El-Rufai was one of the founding leaders of the APC, but in March 2025, he left the ruling party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

His exit came over a year after his ministerial appointment was blocked by the national assembly over alleged security concerns.

The SDP recently announced his expulsion from the party and banned him for 30 years, citing alleged forgery of membership documents, among other issues.

The former Kaduna governor is now one of the leading figures in ADC — the opposition coalition platform.

He thinks the north is still in the age where people are scàrèd of Nigeria falling apart?
He should try a new topic, the average northerner is not really interested in "one Nigeria" these days.

Well, I guess we'll never know because Tinubu won't win. Elrufai made Tinubu president in 2023, he will unmake him. You just wait and see. You and your fellow Yorubas can continue ronuing but you will be ronuing alone. Eat alone, die alone.

If the Northerners are wise the singular question they would ask him is:
You told us PDP was bad and we should vote for APC we did but what happened after. You told us Tinubu was the best after slice bread, what happened after two years. Now you are saying the APC is bad and ADC is the best.
EL RUFAI, GIVE US ONE REASON WHY WE SHOULD TRUST YOU.
BTW
WHO IS THE NORTH?
A Kanuri man or a Tiv woman or an Hausa boy or an Ebira girl. Who is the North?

Even though I don't like El-rufai as a person, he is very right about this.
If Tinubu is re-elected in 2027, the existence of Nigeria is also threatened due to his divisive tribal politics he is encouraging & loop-sided appointments of his incompetent allies his administration is embarking on.

Not to talk of bad leadership, gross disregard for the rule of law and his gross incompetence in handling our economy.
There is a massive hyper-inflation in the Land.
huh
