They have been demolishing our settlements in Lagos State. So, we are not surprised by what they did with the Ilaje Road. But we want them to know that it will have political consequences on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 if it is not reversed.

Stop saying what you don't know with so much confidence. King Sunny Ade isn't an Ilaje man. He is from Ondo town, Ekimogun in Ondo state. Even though Ilajes are ancestrally linked to Ondo state too, but Ondos and Ilajes are two different ethnic groups.

If you asked the Ilaje people for their names, you'd hear sinedu, sukudi, obioma etc. Reminds me of when Abuja "indigenes" filed a suit in Abuja to stop Tulumbu from running for the last election. Hilarious when the names of those "indigenes" were given.

The Ilajes are part of the ancient people that own Lagos state. A street named after Ilaje and its people shouldn't be renamed. I think such action is an attack against their heritage.

And so local governments name and rename bus stops in our Nigeria, right? Can you point to how many bus stops that were name by local governments? All those Vulcaniser, Ile epo, Ile film, dustbin, last bus stop, etc were named and renamed by local governments, right?

The irresponsible and clearly tribal action of the reckless and bigoted expired local government chairman should be condemned. If you set a probe against him, you may find that he looted public treasury, while serving as the chairman.

The Ilaje people who have fishing as their primary occupation in addition to those brilliant Ilaje people in the tech ecosystem and STEM fields and other top career paths are a major subgroup (of the 80 million Yoruba people spread in major population centers worldwide) from Ondo State in the oil and gas-rich ILAJE Local Government Area of Ondo State and that area puts Yorubaland among the oil and gas producing states of NIGERIA. Lagos and Ogun States of course have bitumen crude oil and gas reserves onshore and offshore within the continental belt but full exploration hasn't commenced yet with Ondo, Lagos, Ogun and Edo States being the ONLY 4 States within the huge bitumen-rich reserves which is the second largest reserve in the world after that of Canada and the reserve in the Nigerian bitumen belt is way bigger than all of Nigeria's crude oil reserves.

Ondo City in Ondo State is also where the iconic King Sunny Ade hails from (he was the FIRST Nigerian to be nominated for the Grammy Award in the early 1980s) and that name Ilaje Road which has a long history since 1948 should have been preserved although it's the prerogative of the Local Government to rename streets, roads and landmarks.

Regardless of these historical FACTS, I propose that a befiting new road be named after the legendary "King Sunny Ade" in the Bariga area.
