Never ever go to meet a client without the inspection fee, his transaction on record is an evidence should anything happen.

I learned that from Imran roofing here. He said he request for transport for inspection deductible from main fee.
It makes sense as anyone unwilling to pay part of the money is probably not intending to give the job. The last call, definite address and transaction history are all trails a genuine person doesn't mind leaving.

If actually the purpose of the transaction is to serve as evidence should anything happen, then #1 transfer is enough.
In fact what most companies do to verify clients account is a request for a deposit of $1. Then they refund a random amount like 0.73cents, and ask the client to confirm the exact amount refunded. Failure to get the exact amount means the client does not have access to the account they used for initial transfer.

The available painter came back briefly from work in ibadan and I told him to make sure he goes there before returning.
He went all the way from sango area to ogombo very early in the morning, the person didn't even bother to revert or respond. He probably wanted to get idea of quantity or compare cost for bargaining with whoever he wanted to use. You can imagine the money, effort and time the painter wasted.
He didn't complain because he was on another work already. They've done that to me severally in my early days here when I go to site myself. Some even insist I come rather than send painter to get accurate quantity for different colors and advice on even things that's not my business.
Over 95% of the clients here are the best you could ask for but there are sometimes some that's best avoided. Contractors shouldn't be pressured into unfavorable actions because some want to use subtle blackmail that may impact negatively on their brands.

nawa oo, you will know the serious ones that is ready to work, some are heartless I have similar experience with I share it here some years ago, imagine traveling from Ibadan to Akure, osogbo, last one was Edo state, with my boys, we borrowed money to come back, infact we must bargain and reachagree before I can go anywhere, some won't consider you taking all the risk to travel by this our rough road, kidnapping everywhere, will still not serious with you

this is exactly the case on this forum .. some clients on here that contacts already have they want to award the job .. they are just using me to know wether they are not being exploited by the person they gave the job to.

Requesting for Inspection fee and Google map to the site, so you won't have to be calling the client to be asking for directions. You just call that you are at site already after surveying the area to your satisfaction and taking photos with sign boards, post, at the background .

Hello, Good day everyone. I just got a message from my engineer that LAWMA placed a contravention notice on the site and that they are requesting for payment of 300,000 naira within 7 days. This doesn't really makes sense to me and sounds ridiculous. Please is this the normal practice and is this how it's done. Can someone please advise or give opinion on this.

My understanding of the situation from what I Read online is that we should find a PSP service for disposal and have an agreed feequent time for the disposal.

But my engineer is not agreeing with my understanding. I told him LAWMA is not a revenue collection agency.

You have not said what the offence is. Did you dispose of your waste in a public space? Have you generated any waste from your site and is the waste within your site (your private property)? If yes, you've done nothing wrong.

The engineer is saying it is normal to pay that amount to LAWMA to do what? To come to clear the waste? Or that you generated a waste at all and this is an offence. I will contact them for further clarification on what I contravened although I noticed that they have ticked some boxes in the notice that you purported to have contravened. That notice is a Contravention Notice.

If you are very certain that your site waste is within your property and construction is still on-going, I think you are being setup for extortion. Na their way. Don't panic. I will insist on due process.

The price of building materials and labour now no funny. To come add leakages from corrupt civil servants is something I will not yield easily.

If the area is not water logged, 15 blocks of 9' should suffice for each corner, ensure it is plastered afterwards for longevity. ₦50k should cover each corner.
If it's water logged, you will be casting the corner pieces.

Not entirely.
He can get them to carefully chisel it at the place where mortar is and take them off one by one. He can save some blocks to be re-used if he uses careful hands by people who are patient enough.
