Danielnino00:Thank you, when we talk about experience, is it nice to overhaul this team as he said, Remember the game in Africa is a whole level from their respective clubs , when we now overhaul, who will had the Afrobasket experience in the new team then |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Dreambeat: 8:50pm On Aug 03, 2025 |

History my people..........5th in a row........... |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Danielnino00(m): 8:53pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
do4luv14:We aren't talking about a complete overhaul... What we want is an injection of better players in the team...in Africa, this team of ours is the best...but on the global stage, they can't compete that well, hence the need for better players |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Redman44(m): 8:54pm On Aug 03, 2025 |

Danielnino00:Ok then that fair, the Ogeumike sisters, we aren't sure of them right? |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Danielnino00(m): 9:02pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
do4luv14:Erica and Chiney Ogwumike are not actively playing for now...retired more or less...so that leaves Nneka.. she is a Vet a a former WNBA MVP...she would be a great addition to the team |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Redman44(m): 9:03pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
Danielnino00:We need to be able to compete on the global stage. These ladies that won tonight were injected into the team gradually from 2018. We need a lengthy training camp before the World Cup next year. Training Camp must be open so that gifted players can show up and display what they have to offer. This was what was done before the 2018 World Cup by Otis Hughley. Invitations should also be sent out to some players to come for camping. At least, we need 5 new gifted players in this squad. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Danielnino00(m): 9:05pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
If we manage to get some of these WNBA stars to join us for the world cup, I hope the following players from the current squad are retained..they have more than earned it: 1. Ezinne Kalu 2. Amy Okonkwo 3. Promise Amukamara 4. Murjanatu Musa 5. Pallas-Kuaniyi 6. Victoria Macaulay 7. Elizabeth Balogun(yeah, she is poor at shooting 3s, but when she gets her rhythm, she is valuable asset) |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by semid4lyfe(mod): 9:05pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
Queenslander:Na wetin me sef hear, and it's understandable. Football is 10x bigger than basketball in Nigeria, and BB isn't as popular and doesn't have a huge following. Hopefully, the team has corporate sponsors that can reward them too. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 9:06pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
do4luv14:I had typed out my response to this earlier but it got deleted. Let me attempt to do so again. 1. First, by overhaul I do not mean every member of the current squad be expelled. I expect that a significant number would so that's not what I'm saying. If you however put the pool of players that could potentially join the team vis a Vis the current players, most of the later won't make the team on merit. 2. On age, Victoria Macaulay and Sarah Ogoke are aged 35, Ezinne Kalu is 33, Promise Amukamara is 32. In my opinion we should start preparing to move on from them particularly the first 2 if we want to sustain or development. These four players will be aged 38, 38 36 and 35 respectively by the nest Olympics. We can't seriously compete with them in 2028. I hope that BAT rewards them handsomely for this win to make up for their years of service for the nation. They've all also gone to the Olympics at least the twice so missing 2028 shouldn't be a big deal for them. (Ezinne and Promise may still be included though) 3. I'll suggest we instead start our preparation for the 2028 Olympics with the world cup next year starting with the World cup qualifiers. Since we've already qualified and nothing is at stake, invite new players to compete for spots and take them for the pre-qualifiers. I can draw out a list much later showing the pool of talents at our disposal. |

CornOak:After the uproar and furore over the Falcons 160m reward, you think say PBAT go get mind to reward these ones too the same? ![]() |
