Tjra:A company that's generating over #300m and employing thousands of anambra people can't be regarded as a wasted investment. |

akpumping7720:Why hasn't he done it for Nigeria? If Peter Obi was the governor of Lagos State he would have done far than Tinubu. If Tinubu was the governor of Anambra he would have been a disaster. Lagos State is very easy to govern considering the economic value of the state. |

Nefort:Easier said than done. Is there any disparity between Lagos allocations and Anambra allocations? So what about Delta State despite their huge allocations and royalties? By your logic; Delta State ought to have been Lagos pro max. |

Ofunaofu:Alright. The state you claimed he is siphoning funds from is still better than your region. So what's happening in your region that the governors aren't siphoning funds from? |

Nefort:What was the economic value of Lagos state before Tinubu came in 1999 and the growth rate when he left in 2007? What was the economic value of Anambra state when Peter Obi came in and the growth rate when he left? lets start from the above questions. |
| Re: Top 6 Sources Of Anambra State's IGR — 2024 by Nefort: 3:39pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
akpumping7720:Both states an completely different. Lagos occupies a strategy position in Nigeria which comes with certain privileges. Lagos attracts so much foreign and local investments which Anambra State can not attract. Growing the economy of Anambra by 1% is as difficult as growing the economy of Lagos by 10%. |
| Re: Top 6 Sources Of Anambra State's IGR — 2024 by akpumping7720(m): 5:25pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
Nefort:Lagos attracts local and foreign investments in quote; right from 1999 what do you think the governors have been doing right for attracting investments that Anambra cannot pull off? |

givedemwotowoto:This is a sign of backwardness if banks are the only top investors in Anambra states while in south west, banks are not even expected to take such leading role since there are many top rated companies and international investors. When we tell you to shun ipobism and ESNism, and stop burning Dangote trailers; you will say nah lie, nah lie. Ndi Anambra, see your life! Kanu has wrecked Anambra that was so full of potential of industrialization before ipob began. Soludo, you get more work to do in the second term. You need to attract lots of national and international companies to Anambra state, having banks topping your industrialization sector is a sign of backwardness in 21st century. Stop idea of "I no dey borrow money"; if you know what to do; you have to borrow. Borrow loan with least interest rate and embark on aggressive campaign to woo investors especially international investors. Even the least state in the south west can not be proud of having banks topping her industrization sector. If Anambra is like this, which company will then top in other south eastern states? |

sreamsense:Give me examples of the top investments of the top rated companies and international investors in your state and how much revenue they generate for the state monthly. SW is not a state. |

akpumping7720:Lagos has always been a hotspot since the colonial master's arrived Nigeria and it became a larger city after it became Nigeria's capital city for many decades. Being Nigeria's capital city for many years is enough to pull in heavy investments same as what is happening to Abuja today. Whatever Lagos is today has little to do with Tinubu or other ex-governors. The governors of Lagos simply inherited an already developed large city and they now claim they are the ones who built it from scratch. |

Nefort:Thanks for your civil response bro. Was the whole of Lagos state developed by FG or just part of Lagos which is Lagos island? Yorubas aren't happy with the way some of you are distorting history. Lagos island was the seat of power then, and federal government only developed that part and part of Yaba, Ebute-metta and some part of costain towards surulere. Tinubu came and raised the state IGR followed by all successful governors. With this IGR they were able to construct and rehabilitate existing roads, established LAWMA, LAMATA, BRT, Blue line, Red line and some other infrastructures in Lagos. Lagos health care and Lagos civil service remains the best in the whole of Nigeria. the managers of Lagos state has to do all this with federal government allocations that all other states are collecting and IGR. Don't forget that Calabar was once a capital. Saying the governors didn't do anything shows you are biased. And you said something, that Lagos has been a hotspot when the colonial masters arrived. Not Only when they arrived, infact before they arrived. Yorubas and other settlers in Lagos has been trading and developing Lagos even before the arrival of colonial masters. So we can agree that Lagos state is blessed. Imagine if Lagos governors have been spending the state resources recklessly; will people stay? Won't people go to other serious and developed states. So kudos must be given to past and present governors. Lagos is receiving same allocations like other state. |
| Re: Top 6 Sources Of Anambra State's IGR — 2024 by Nefort: 9:30pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
akpumping7720:Lagos state may be getting the same allocation like other states but other states don't have the available resources to increase their IGR like Lagos did. Lagos is a wealthy state so increasing IGR is not rocket science. Other states in Nigeria don't have the wealth that Lagos has. I am glad you mentioned that Yorubas and other settlers developed Lagos. Which means it is the combined effort of Nigerians. Every ethnic group in Nigeria invested heavily in Lagos. But many Yorubas make it sound like only Yorubas developed Lagos. |

Nefort:So from your last paragraph; advocate for the indigenes of other states to be friendly and accommodating like lagosians so that people can flock into their states and develop them just like Lagos state. Indigenes can't be hostile to visitors and expect them to stay and contribute to the development of that state. So that is why Yorubas are referred to as 'Omoluabi'. Yea, Lagos is a wealthy state because of the crop of governors it has produced. From mere 600 million naira in 1999. Thanks to Jagaban and his predecessors! You can check what oil producing states are collecting as IGR and 13% derivations and royalties. If those states managers are wise and prudent, they ought to be doing exploits like Lagos state! Thanks for your time bro. Enjoy the rest of your night bro and remember to vote for Jagaban come 2027!!! |
