SalamRushdie:The Terminal 1 of the Lagos International Airport (MMIA) is being REBUILT and it would be completely stripped down NOT renovated as the title of this OP's post suggests! The original newspaper article and the video interview featuring Fetus Keyamo right BELOW CLEARLY state this FACT. Second, the MMIA is the primary airport which receives more annual international passenger traffic than any other in Nigeria and it's a total disgrace that Terminal 1 is looking so run down like that after years of neglect since it was built and opened for passenger traffic in 1979. I remember flying through that Terminal 1 back in the day from the early 1980s and the facilities were OK. NOW is the time to rebuild it. Again, this is NOT a renovation as IRRESPONSIBLY suggested in the Tribune newspaper headline. Maxymilliano:He is just telling us why ebilokan is abandoning road construction in the north and using the money to refurbish the Lagos airport, which has a new terminal that a northern President Buhari and south south minister Amaechi built. How can ebilokan be so tribal, divisive and clueless ![]() etokhana: |

Jorussia:Does Istanbul lack pipe borne water in all households, such that they are drinking shitty water in their city with a world class airport? Moreover, did Buhari not build a new airport in Lagos? What is Stockholm Syndrome ![]() Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low |

Your state governor can also redesign or build one that is bigger and better so as to attract foreign investors! Lagos is open to the sea and would always have certain advantages! There are several other advantages other state holds over Lagos n they don't see that as monopoly.. e.g no enough land for farming so majority of food in Lagos is imported from other states etc.. Tell your governor to be innovative and stop hating on Lagos State! Streetinvestor2: |

Maxymilliano:You posted that Tribune newspaper article and didn't bother to read it properly. The Terminal 1 (not Terminal 2 which Buhari constructed) of the Lagos International Airport is the one being REBUILT NOT renovated. Terminal 1 was ORIGINALLY opened for international passenger traffic in 1979, and has undergone steady poor maintainance ever since. That's totally bad for Nigeria's image with tourists, international investors, etc, flying into Nigeria. Festus Keyamo CLEARLY emphasized in the article and video far BELOW that the Terminal 2 of the Lagos International Airport (MMIA) which the Buhari administration constructed wasn't properly situated and had some design flaws hence the airlines refused to move there until he gave a major order. Second, yesterday, Festus Keyamo was on Channels Television to further emphasize that the older Terminal 1 (which was built in 1979, and which I personally flew through for the first time in the early 1980s) will be torn down and totally REBUILT NOT renovated as the Tribune newspaper headline WRONGLY indicates. That was a very bad piece of journalism from Tribune and other media outlets claiming that it's gonna be renovated. A lot of the posters attacking this REBUILDING of the MMIA project right from Page 1 are from the South East of Nigeria who are CLEARLY being spiteful, misinformed, and pushing disinformation about plans to embezzle the money. That's outright defamation because right in the article and video BELOW, Festus, being a lawyer that I know, who pays attention to details gave a sequential breakdown of the project cost and the new building design can be seen in the video for Terminal 1 which will now be LARGER than it originally was. Terminal 2 will ALSO be expanded simultaneously with the new Terminal 1 construction. Period. Streetinvestor2:What are you saying? I doubt Abuja airport is as run down as that in Lagos as it's much newer. Lagos is the gateway to Nigeria. It is a federally owned airport. Why should lagos state fund the repairs? Lagos State is even building its own airport. Stop being petty. This is a non issue. |

So this is the reason subsidy was removed and the high tax here and there. We destroyed thr economy and use the the gain for misplaced priorities and wastage’s |

Even if I have my reservations, I believe MMA1 deserves this. Whether it's in Lagos or not. The only challenge is can they deliver it at the said cost, with the intended beauty and modernisation and at prompt schedule? |

fineboynl:What has this got to do with subsidy ? Does the airport not generate money ? If you have a poultry bringing in money won't you feed the chickens and look after the property with maintenance In Nigeria they just take the money to Abuja leave the property to decay until there I a crisis Same with the refineries, the port at Apapa the roads to the port etc If Lagos statehas any sense they should buy the airport That airport is nearly 50 years old How much money has it brought in in that time? In 2023 Customs alone at the airport was 100 billion.in 2024 it was 170 billion That is not airport revenue just Customs Hopefully when they spend such money they are thinking business that is expansion to increase capacity for passengers and cargo If that airport is properly managed it will make more than that in one year |

Streetinvestor2:Abuja Airport is coming off a decade of renovation and redesign. If you have visited there in the last 2 weeks, you will have noticed that the new multi level car park is now in use. Furthermore, the departure terminal for international flights is now significantly upgraded. The Lagos airport is far busier than Abuja. That old terminal is long overdue for modernisation. |

donleo92:It is important to separate business from politics If you heard that the government spent $10 billion on the Bonga oil field or the LNG project in Bonny would you say Must everything be about the Niger Delta? No Why? Hopefully you understand that it is business and there will be returns We cannot say because of that government should continue looking for oil in the north to be equitable So why not think about the airport in the same way Why so bitter about Lagos There is no state in Nigeria. NONE that generates as much money as Lagos Whatever the reason for that is history. It is what it is Last year at that airport the Nigerian Customs took in close to 200 billion This is not money from airport operations just Customs You sound envious and bitter If there is money to be made then it should be I would even argue the airport should be sold Investing money in that airport will bring in more money than investing it in Ilorin or Akure |

Jorussia:N200bn will do it, my friend. Stop using Turkey, Singapore or any Western country as a standard of measure. It's reta.rded. An electrician or mason in Turkey will be paid $45 an hour for his job. His counterpart in Nigeria is paid between $1.50 to $2 an hour. Every businessman knows there's a huge difference in labour cost. Besides most of the building material to be used for the renovation will be locally sourced- wood, glass, electric cables, plumbing materials and cement are locally available in abundance. 60% of that N712bn will be stolen. |
