Kindly explain what you mean by middle class.

Nigerians should lower thier expectations of themselves.

They produce virtually nothing and want the best of life
You mean to desire to live a decent life is to want the best of life?
How many Nigerians have you seen clamouring for a PJ? Is it not your political gods that chase after such?

For a country or nation to progress it needs good policies , truth is there's no good policies in naija , d only policies are the ones politicians are enjoying and the civilians suffering and smiling

Madam, in which country do you reside with your family? Stay in America and be telling us how difficult things are in Nigeria….you mean that the Dollar you brought with you was insufficient to feed the hungry mouths in your village?
Well, better advise them to go into farming to feed the nation…. sunshine is free and borehole water can wet the ground adequately in our fertile country. Is the US government solving all the problems in the ghettos in your America?
Stop encouraging indolence and lack of resourcefulness! cool cool

All these obi people just talk recklessly headlessly for cheap political points
Stop spilling nonsense online because you don't know her. Chimamanda juggles between Nigeria and America. If you are at the level she is, I am sure you would've applied for American citizenship.

Hahahaha, which category are those who are into stock market in? Because for the past 1 year now, the Nigeria stock market has been impressive.

I have said it before and will still repeat it again, anyone saying this government policies haven't affected him positively is not productive.

I know how the Naira to other currencies exchange rates have been improving for months now.

It’s insane that they’re calling it progress and economic reform. So the solution is for hunger to kill off the lower class and then they’ll say the economy has reset itself? It’s ALARMING what I witnessed when I visited. Appalling

People are really finding it hard.
Our overhead costs, which doesn't include luxury, is at an alltime high. Makes me wonder what exactly low income earners are doing away with to survive.
They’re probably
*cutting how many meals a day they eat
*Reducing ingredients in their meals to the bare essentials
*going hungry when all else fails
*forfeiting power supply
*avoiding hospitals when sick

Etc smh

No.

I don't need an Adichie or a Badenoch to tell me my material condition has deteriorated significantly, first under Buhari and now under Tinubu. And under Jonathan before them. And so on.

BAT is failing. He obviously didn't think thoroughly and carefully about the impact of his 'policies' on inflation and the exchange rate. Prices have gone through the roof since his 'declaration' at Eagle Square two years ago, and those prices are not coming down anytime soon. All the man does now is plead endlessly for patience and stoicism. But nobody has time for that, particularly since BAT doesn't practice what he preaches.

Governments in industrialized countries (with far more sophisticated economies than ours) are very careful about inflation because voters don't like chronic, runaway inflation. Inflation makes it impossible for ordinary people to make ends meet. It makes ordinary people angry and desperate. Voters have been known to kick out governments who are careless about keeping prices under control. What remains to be seen is if Nigerians are angry and desperate enough to send an unmistakable signal to this administration.

Who are the middle class begging to survive?

Recently this lady has been talking to trigger the minds of her people.

It wouldn't be long when her people will abandon Peter Obi to start pushing her to lead them in politics.
I hope u dont pass this "brain" to your descendants

The question is: who is a middle class Nigerian? What does a middle class family in Nigeria look like? How much do they earn? What do they spend on? How do we assess middle class families? What's middle class in Lagos could pass as upper middle class in Kaduna.
There is no such thing as middle class in nigeria

A middle-class family typically occupies the socio-economic stratum between the working class and the upper class. They are characterized by a higher proportion of college degrees, greater disposable income, and often own property.

Let's not always paint our country as the worst nation on earth just because we hate the present leaders.
^^^
No.

This isn't a matter of 'painting' anything. It also isn't a matter of 'hating' anyone.

Nigeria has millions of households that are multi-dimensionally poor. There are statisticians, data analysts and other smart people who are paid to handle data for a living - and these smart people came up with hard evidence that there is serious poverty in this country.

Don't wait until this reality is brought home to you in a hard and painful way before the message sinks in. There is poverty and desperation in this country, full stop. You could well run into one or two of these poor (but armed) people on a lonely road while coming home from work tonight. What happens when they ask you to hand over your belongings?

How can a married man survive while earning 50k per month, no need to break it down but actually some workers are living in hell, though they destroyed the capital of many marketers but they are living in better condition, but the amount of people begging looking for help will tell you the hardship people living in

Does the middle class Nigerian class still exist? I think we lost that class to the 1990s and early 2000s.

It is either you belong to the poor class or the rich class in Nigeria today.

You are the one talking stupeed.

Even the president you're here foolishlee supporting has publicly acknowledged the unprecedented hardship his policies are causing.

You can support the administration as it is your right, but you don't need to attack people stating obvious facts.

Say whatever you will, the forces of nature are against this wicked president who lacks human feelings and he will never returns as president 2027. Go write am down.

Nigeria was already poverty capital of the world before tinubu took charge.

With the anti masses policies recently introduced, what does your brain tell you.

Families who were managing to pay their rents at 1M before, their landlord has increased it to 2.5M.

Come to Abuja and see for yourself how families are moving from wuse to kubwa. And that's the middle class.

What productivity are you talking about when govt has failed in providing enabling enviroment.

A govt squeezing everything out of its citizens at every given chance. Medical practitioners are severely underpaid, how will they be productive. And those are the ones lucky to be employed.

We know your type. 30k monthly to praise failure.

If our govt supports us, we can produce all that we need for a decent living.

After food, clothing, shelter, medicals everything else is optional.

If these things were reasonably accessible, nobody go dey complain
