As a kid people did alot of things to have some money in their pocket to do one or two things and they go desperate if there is no money.
From selling of empty bottle cans to people buying empty bottles and also selling iron condemned.
On one occasion, a friend of mine as a kid was so broke that he stoned a lizard ,that one they call ogbaikpo(red neck) and the lizard was taken to the local market for sale to market women that do use it for local juju.
Unknown to him the lizard was still not fully dead .
When he arrived at the market and opened the container where the lizard is for the market woman, the lizard moved quickly and the market woman he was selling to screamed.
Both my friend and the market woman scampered for safety lol.

I started working as at when I was in JSS2. Dad didn't just want any of us to be liability to anyone.

But I had this crazy neighbors, those guys can do unthinkable to get money or food. They can go party to go and beg for food, infact, the weirdest part is them carrying masquerade to raise money

Ah,that was really extreme.

One thing I did when I was a kid was when I used to follow a friend aunties to the market in the morning very early at about 4am to go sweep the market anytime my dad travelled, just to be productive 😊.
