The WHOLE Yoruba kings were appointed by government powers. None was a true king that got to power by divination. Why they so empty and politicians mess them up when they FK |

This pronouncement is not good at all while we have sitting Olubadan on the throne. Would he not be praying for the present Oba to kick the bucket so he can take over as old age is settling in. Don't let him be like, God when now?😂😂😂😂 |

wonder233:Every Ibadan indigene is born royal, you can decide to be in line for kingship by taking a title called “Mogaji” and if you live long enough, you can become Olubadan. |

epainos:He is powerful go add and deal with it. You think say Edo mentality and your own equal? Make Okpebelo try am na? Mind you this status quo is being in existence for over 600 yrs |

epainos:Dude, understand history and the present first. To remove is not the issue, but the government cannot replace him. Even the British removed Ovonramwen in 1897. But they could not replace him. Until he passed on in Calabar in 1914 and his son, the crown prince became Oba. The people will turn their back on any govt who tries it. Edo South has about 67% of Edo State voters. Not a governor with an ounce of working brain matter would even think of it. That is the difference. In virtually everywhere else in 9ja, another ruling house member will quickly ascend the throne. There is no such in Benin. Very unique. It took many centuries previously to refine it to how it has become in the last 500 years now. |

Dancebreaker:Dude, and what part of history is loud enough to resound your Ovonram....whatever? GenZ sabi am today? Dey play. The people will turn their back on any govt who tries it. Edo South has about 67% of Edo State voters. Not a governor with an ounce of working brain matter would even think of it. That is the difference.Like the way they turned their back and destroy the Kano empire after Sanusi was dethroned. Right? You must be a kid when Abacha dethroned Dasuki. Lol. Nothing will happen. These kings are there to serve politicians during elections. This is tje only reason they are left there, and nothing more. In virtually everywhere else in 9ja, another ruling house member will quickly ascend the throne. There is no such in Benin. Very unique. How many ruling houses are there in Edo? ![]() |

epainos:Yeah, GenZ needs to know that the rules for succession were not made by GenZ, so GenZ needs to learn before opening mouth Waa in public. In Benin Kingdom, it's not by ruling house. Only the current Oba and the crown Prince matter, and the crown prince's first son, if he already has one. He is anointed crown prince the day he's born. For at least 500 years, each crown prince has survived to become king. Kano has nothing in common with Benin. Kano was an Hausa Kingdom taken over by Fulani foreigners just about 200 years ago. |
