A lot use the title 'Dr' which is fine, but the public should know the difference between doctors by title and medical doctor
But the OP never said she's medical doctor,so why are you trying to educate the public in a thread where what she does is perfectly described?

I have never heard of anyone address any mid level practitioners or a Medical doctor as say “ Good morning Medical Doctor Mike “
What everyone call them is “Doctor Mike” period.
As long as the written insignia on the coat and ID card show the right description of the tile as mandated by the board.

It is not about the OP, it is about educating the public to prevent cases of impersonation and quackery. This was just an opportunity to emphasise it
There's no such opportunity here because what she does is perfectly described. I read it ,and know she's a different kind of doctor.

If the OP had described her as a medical doctor, then you can use that to educate the public, but no such description.

I practise abroad and I can tell you, for sure, no one condones calling for example, a nurse practitioner or physican assistant a 'medical doctor ' here
True...! Medical Doctor is distinct in itself. You are right.

I was talking about some Nigerian doctors not wanting any other health care practitioner using the term or title "Doctor".

I am quite certain no Pharmacist, Nurse, Optometrist, Dentist, etc, would address themselves as "Medical Doctor"... That would be downright silly.

I beg to differ. Podiatric physicians are recognized as physicians, just like dentists and eye doctors. They are also qualified to diagnose, treat, and prevent conditions affecting the lower extremity through medical and surgical means. Saying that she is not a doctor is a bit strange.

She is inspiring. We need more women like this as role models.
He's having a heart attack, is there a doctor on board.
Yes, I'm a podiatrist 🤪

The term 'medical doctor' is used only for MBBS, MBBCH or MD holders.
If a person is qualified and licensed to diagnose and treat medical ailments, is that person not a medical doctor?

Medical doctor is different from doctor. A Herbal doctor is a doctor. Even Saidi Osupa is a doctor grin grin
You did not answer my question:

who then is a medical doctor?

If a person is qualified and licensed to diagnose and treat medical ailments, is that person not a medical doctor?

Sarah Ogoke's achievement with D'Tigress and off the court is not celebrated enough. After reading this brief profile, let us make her name go viral.

Sarah Ogoke, whose picture is attached hereto, is the only Nigerian and D'Tigress to win five Women Afrobasket title in a row (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025).

Ogoke has also been managing a medical career while proudly representing Nigeria. She is a Surgeon and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Premedicine from Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta, Georgia and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) at the New York College Of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

She is currently a nursing mother with a baby not even a year old yet she showed up for Nigeria at this year's Afrobasket.

That’s not just dedication, that’s heart. 💚🇳🇬

N.B. Her feat deserves a wider celebration. I even saw her breastfeeding her 9 months old baby in the changing room. What a real and love for her fatherland!

Big congratulations to her.
The citizens are working very hard to uphold the works of our heroes past but few politicians and elites are seriously looting the country dry and it doesn't end at that. They use religion and tribe to cause hatred in the land. The D,Tigers planned as a team without any mention of federal character nor quota system.

No wonder Hadiza El Rufai, wife of Mallam Nasir El Rufai said that Igbos are really making Nigeria proud....everybody knows this, yet they refused to give them the required level playing ground in politics to make Nigeria proud like they do in sports where they are giving a level playing ground...

Dear Nigerians, lets continue to shoot ourselves in the leg by intentionally working against Igbos producing a credible President to help fix Nigeria for the greater good of all of us and to make Nigeria proud just because we don't like them....we will wake up one day, and I pray it won't be too late by then undecided
Na only igbos represent the country abi. Abi the best players come from Igbo side abi

In the context of healthcare, the terms "medical doctor" and "doctor" are often used interchangeably, but "doctor" can also refer to other professions with doctoral degrees, like a PhD. A medical doctor (MD or DO) specializes in diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, while a PhD doctor typically has a research-based doctoral degree.

Hope this helps

Congratulations to her and the whole of D'tigress team, it's not easy managing two careers at the same time nursing a baby.

However, Podiatrists are not medical Doctors, only MBBS/MBBCH, MD and BDS are qualified medical Doctors. Those with DPM can diagnose and treat medical cases of the feet and Ankles but do not qualify as medical Doctors
Whichever definition you give, she too takes care of human body.

Lol... Nigerian medical doctors have to be the most territorial among medical professionals on Earth.

Don't just bother your head arguing with that fellow. grin

One even expressed serious annoyance towards Ph.D holders and professors who are also addressed by the term "Dr".

Doctors abroad are less concerned about such trivial things... Those ones are okay to even be addressed solely as "Physicians".
I tell you bro
