The Osun chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Adewale Adebayo has commenced the process for the recall of Osun Speaker Adewale Egbedun for threat to life of his hometown king, Alasi of Asi, Oba Isaac Oyewale.

The Nation reports that Oba Oyewale absconded from the palace after Egbedun, representing Odo-Otin State Constituency, threatened and vowed to assault the king. The Speaker apologised to supporters for the outburst.

Adebayo in a statement on Monday confirmed that plan has been concluded to recall Egbedun by his constituents.

So, a king that is supposed to report to Local government Chairman is now plotting the removal of the State Speaker, the number 3 person in the state. If he is allowed his wish he would later ask for the removal of the governor. After all the gov is just 2 steps up from the Speaker. A speaker is number 3 person in line of succession to the gov. This Oba should allow the young man to breath. It's obvious they were trying to play on the young speakers inexperience, a set up.

All this one na story. The speaker is just a legislative member and can be recalled. What will happen is the Council of Osun state kings telling their people to join the recall process.

Just because he is the number 3 in a state doesn’t mean he should be issuing death threats.

If it’s APC speaker, I believe what you will write up there will be totally different.

Imagine this small man threatening a king. No regard for the culture again because he is a politician to the extent that the king ran away from his throne. If this one becomes the governor, he may dethrone ooni. Let him go home abeg. He must be recalled.

Whether he's supposed to report to the local government chairman or not how does this give the speaker the right to issue a death threat to a traditional ruler?

What death threat? I listened to the audio and I can feel the speakers frustration. People say things when they are angry and frustrated. I have read the guys press release and can read between the lines that he was being set up by the older King because the king is older and more experienced. Obas say worse things to their subjects in yorubaland and nothing happens. If true why did the Oba attack the speakers convoy using thugs and insisting they be released after arrest by police. Obas can sometimes be too intoxicated with power. I only hope they don't self destruct each other.

Which read and understand? I have listened to the tape and the Speakers office press release and it's obvious the young speakers was set up. Both side will only tell you their own side of the story that favours them but I can read in between the lines. Why can they give us evidence against the speaker apart from the only tape which came from anger. That anger must have a context. A Yoruba young man will not all of a sudden be abusing an elderly king all of a sudden. A lot has happened that is not in the press.

And the Oba can be removed by both the LG chairman and the governor and the speaker can eeild the powers of the gov. Can an Oba become a gov without and election? If the kings do so then they are interfering in their domains politics. Are kings supposed to play partisan politics? When politicians remove they we rise to support them but this appears to be a case of setting up the speaker. Why only that tape?Anybody can speak in anger when frustrated.

Threat to life is a very serious issue legally and globally. The speaker threatening to kill is enough for him to be impeached,suspended and persecuted in a serious country.

Maybe i should pray that u experience what the speaker experienced in the hands of the king first hand . It's just so sad the king has allowed himself to be used by the politicians. The speaker goofed to have reacted the way he did but then,what do people say about having elders around??
What happens next if he's removed?? The next speaker will still come from Asi?? That simply means the king is working against his community indirectly. Anyways,what do I know? I just know this won't fly and he will even come back to win his next election God willing
