If my children are winning, yes of course I will celebrate them when they come back home. I be celebrating them at home, when I know fully well my home is burning down fast.

I have nothing against them winning or celebrating them. I'm against the sudden and unnecessary show off, when they are 10s of thousands who worked so hard more than the falcons and tigress for good 35 years of their lives and still counting, yet they can't even pay them a dime.

This win is different because a record was broken and a new one set. No country had ever won the competition 5 times consecutively until now. Senegal previously won it 4 times in a row, a record D'Tigress equaled in 2023, and has now surpassed, with 29 matches undefeated in Afrobasket since 2015
These same players were previously treated badly after working hard to qualify for the FIBA World Cup, but the past administration stopped them from participating due to the leadership tussle between the Sports Ministry and the Basketball Federation.
They deserved to be celebrated and rewarded
