Hello everyone, I'm currently exploring opportunities to invest ₦55 million (Nigerian Naira) into a solid and scalable business venture, specifically within Ibadan city. My decision is firm on focusing only on Ibadan due to its growing economy, vibrant population, and unique market dynamics. I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who know Ibadan well — whether you’re a resident, an entrepreneur, or someone who has done business in the city. What sectors or types of businesses do you believe have high growth potential or are currently underserved in Ibadan? Some questions to guide your suggestions: What businesses are thriving or emerging in Ibadan right now? Are there untapped markets or growing trends in the city? Would you recommend real estate, agriculture, hospitality, retail, tech, manufacturing, or something else entirely? What are the risks and advantages of your suggested business idea? I’m open to both traditional and innovative business models, as long as they’re practical and grounded in the reality of Ibadan’s economy and demographics. Looking forward to your ideas and local wisdom. Thanks in advance! |

Invest that’s very essential in Nigeria currently are Anything Food Agriculture will be under that Also importation and exportation of either raw and processed food items is something people can’t do without. Tech, Manufacturing might cause a lot of money and may be very hard to start making revenue because of power supply, bandit, etc. Food . Food . Food. Real estate will also sell but it’s not something that can make gain instantly. On food. You can buy Yam of 10 million in Bayelsa and sell it at 20 million in Lagos, it’s something you can do within 2 days. |

Tohsynetita1:Thanks very much for your insight. I have a few real estate properties in the city (a very slow business in these parts). I have been trying to avoid the perishable food business, but your explanation of the Yam business piqued my interest. |

First, Let’s Set the Record Straight: With ₦55 million, you are not a small-time investor. You're already positioned to build an asset based business that can generate cash flow, appreciate in value, and create long-term wealth, if invested properly Now, most people with that kind of capital go into: Retail stores (supermarkets, lounges, fuel stations), with high overhead cost and thin profit margins Also they go into Real estate development which has great returns potentials but capital intensive and slow-moving. What about transportation business, which is cash-generating though, but high maintenance Have I told you about Agriculture? A Volatile market unless structured correctly But there's a hybrid model that blends real estate, agriculture, and Passive income perfectly, which you don't really need to engage in day to day running and supervision of the business. This model allows you buy land, plant Palm Trees on it, and allow it to fruit while you generate revenue from it consistently without maintenance cost on the land or the palm trees for the next 40/50/even 70 years.. This is not for you if you don't know your way in, but you can leverage our company which has been in the real estate agro business for close to a decade. If you know the value and worth of palm oil, you won't think twice of this... You can connect me on 07043096502 for better talk.. |

petchab:55 million looks big but then, this is Nigeria that's just 35 k USD First one..have it in mind that you will be spending in USD ..it's a pure truth This cannot cover for a retail store in Ibadan for now...if you wish to compete with those in the city In major areas... akala express to challenge Challenge to dugbe.. Dugbe spreading to mokola, bodija and basorun..then to akobo are places where you have the middle class or people with ready money to buy Store rental will definitely take almost 10 million In those axis Before the actual setup It can work if you focus on probably supply of a single item...or some raw food stuff As for tech..it won't do..I am in it...except a startup which you are already working on and has some traction Plantation can work..but the number of years to wait is another Ii see advantages in plantation farming and cassava... Hold..my personal family is on the ijaye farm settlement with over 300 acres There maybe losses ...but just a little care can still turn in profit on cassava I don't know who the next governor will be..but the current guy has done a lot on security Maize farming is a no...a family member just lost an acre to cows as the government guys where after some Fulani...with their cows running over the farm as they ran Secondly I have been monitoring the weather for several years..it's doing lots of bad stuff to maize farming Beans , soya beans ,watermelon, does well too along the ijaye farm settlement Generally Ibadan is good for anything agric as you have both land .can buy.cheaply and support institute and industry to work with You may have to go far outside Ibadan to places like like the oke Ogun axis if you wish to acquire land cheaply for your farm...or stay within 20-45 kilometres if you wish to do some real estate stuff Most of the land available about upto 45 kilometres from Ibadan has been taken by the real estate guys or the government It's great you looking at this city for your next investment |

pneumaticos:I appreciate the insight, given everything I have read and researched so far; agriculture might just be the way. I am looking to provide opportunities in my small way to a city where I grew up and am a native. Profitability isn't an immediate aim, at least in the first 5 years. The Akinyele axis looks attractive to me, but again have no idea what the state of security in the area currently is or will be in the future. |

petchab:Security be issue o, if you want to help your community, you should go for business that will not really be prone to insecurity damages. Kidnap is now very rampant in Nigeria |

I moved to Ibadan in 2015 and immediately started a dry cleaning business which immediately blew up to me having multiple outlets few years after (minimal marketing done) transitioned into a general cleaning company which was extremely profitable. Sold the company few years ago when I moved back to Lagos. So, if You really have the said amount of Capital? I would strongly advise you to go into the cleaning industry. |

Tohsynetita1:The Chinese took 33k hectare or probably the governor sold! Itosi river connecting Ogun river and it's areas are taken...so security wise This places has some level of safety..the communities around this areas are not sleeping too I see this oyo stretching to Ogun as been the basket of the south under 5 years ..if everything security can be solved |
