Emotion aside, do you really think it is professional to be breastfeeding a toddler in a changing room during a competition? How weird is that? Show me one professional that have done that in the past. If we had lost the competition it is still you hypocrites that will point out that why was she breastfeeding during a competition, that the baby will be a distraction to the team with crying.
So she should leave her child to be hungry because of professional standards abi?

You should ask yourself why she brings a toddler she should be taking care of at home to the competition? will the team die if she doesn't show up? will she show up if she was admitted to bed for sickness or has a serious injury? You guys just get emotionally distracted from reality...common sense is indeed not common.

Lol! So it is now a crime to bring your child to your workplace even after your maternity leave has ended?

Someday, the young will see that fighting for Nigeria is a death sentence, but entertaining Nigeria is a ticket to survival.

Few days ago I made a post that went viral about the Super Falcons. I was both praised and cursed, today, I’m reminding our leaders again of the danger they ignore because solving them won’t make headlines.

The Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress lifted their 5th trophy in a row. What a feat! What a moment!

The President, in celebration, gifted them $100,000 and houses each. As he should. These women carried the name Nigeria to the world, and brought back glory.

They deserve the applause. They deserve the reward. They deserve even more. Just like the Super Falcons.

But something else also happened the same day, just a few streets away…
Retired Nigerian soldiers, men who fought and bled for this same flag, were on the streets protesting for their unpaid gratuities and pensions.

I’m sure you are not shocked. We are used to seeing and hearing such things.

On the same day that Nigeria celebrates, Nigeria also forgets.
On the same day the nation rewards victory, it abandons those who endured sacrifice.

These soldiers are not just names.
They are fathers, husbands, sons, mothers and daughters who once carried rifles so we could carry microphones and basketballs.
They once faced bullets, while we cheered from the comfort of our homes.

They once stayed awake, bare, broken, hungry, in the den of death and terror of the night, while we cuddle our pillows and make love.

Now they are old… hungry… forgotten.
This is the danger of selective patriotism. This is my only problem with this country.

A country that rewards success but punishes sacrifice is building a dangerous future.
Because one day, the young will see that fighting for Nigeria is a death sentence,
But entertaining Nigeria is a ticket to survival.

And when the enemies come, not with trophies but with terror —
Who will fight?
Who will die?
Who will trust the system enough to wear the uniform?

This post is not to diminish the greatness of D’Tigress, I celebrate them!
But it is to remind the nation:

A country that abandons its warriors will soon have no one left willing to fight for it.

Reward the heroes. But don’t forget the ghosts who bled for your freedom.
Because the loudest form of betrayal is silence… especially when the old soldiers cry.

A very beautiful writeup, you have spoken well, and this is nothing but the truth, but the problem is our leaders do not think and they do not plan. And too bad a country that doesn't plan the next 5, 10, and 50 years is a country already doomed for disasters.

Maybe the team would have lost the competition had she died or not been there to play this match. Some of you people are not just thinking right. So long as the medical team deems it fit for her to play that match and does not see what all this chochocho is for. Or do you know more than the medical team in their field? Or as a manager, you will ditch your best player all because she is breastfeeding, even when the medical team has cleared her to play?

And it must be snapped and posted online? That even makes it stupid for you people that supported that pics online. What's the aim?
And it was posted online for people like you to see and comment, so the objective was achieved successfully.

She's Yoruba, not Igbo.

Get your facts right before posting.
Yoruba answering Ogoke, how is that possible? Ogoke is a typical Igbo name.

This is a thought provoking piece. As a people, first and foremost why are we always more interested in entertaining news and our media is also not helping matters. If not for this your post I probably won't know that soldiers were protesting and if I had seen it on front page, I would likely not even open it.
We all need to sit up, on every level. But Naija sha!
Your first question, haven't you noticed blacks are more into entertainment, singing dancing, we have energy for sports. When it comes to critical thinking, that's where whites thrive sorry to say. There are a few exceptions to this though.
