Primary School Teacher (Male)

Location: Oyo State

About the Role:

Rural Rays Africa Initiative is resuming its rural school in Akinola Village to provide foundational education to children who have never had access to formal learning. We are seeking a passionate and intelligent male teacher to pioneer this effort. Most of the children have no prior classroom experience, cannot read or write, and do not speak English fluently. You will be their first teacher, their first exposure to education, and the one who will light their path to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Develop and implement lesson plans, class notes, and basic curriculum.

2) Teach English and basic numeracy using Montessori-inspired methods.

3) Apply creative and engaging teaching strategies suitable for first-time learners.

4) Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

5) Communicate effectively with children from non-English speaking backgrounds.

6) Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability to the local context.

7) Monitor progress, assess learning outcomes, and provide feedback.

Collaborate with the Initiative and community to ensure the holistic growth of the children.

Requirements:

1) Male, with minimum 2 years teaching experience, preferably in a Montessori or early years setting.

2) Strong command of spoken and written English.

3) Creative, intelligent, and highly resourceful.

4) Must be passionate about teaching children and willing to serve in rural communities.

5) Must be able to live in the town and adapt to a rural lifestyle.

Eligibility Criteria:

1) Applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 33

2) Minimum academic qualification: SSCE, OND, or NCE

3) Preferably single (not married)

4) Must have a good understanding of the Yoruba language

Benefits:

About the Role:

Rural Rays Africa Initiative is resuming its school in Akinola Village to give rural children their first access to quality education and care. We are seeking a neat, intelligent, and passionate female classroom assistant to support the main teacher in the classroom and oversee the children’s daily welfare and feeding.

You will play a key role in creating a joyful, well-organized, and nurturing learning environment for children who have never been in a classroom before.

Key Responsibilities:

In the Classroom:

1) Assist the teacher during lessons and class activities.

2) Support children with classwork and play-based learning activities.

3) Help maintain discipline, engagement, and a positive environment.

Welfare & Feeding:

1) Oversee feeding time and ensure all children are served their meals.

2) Monitor and enforce the feeding timetable with the cook.

3) Fill and mark the feeding schedule card daily.


Requirements:

1) Female, with at least 1 year of experience in a Montessori or early childhood setting.

2) Excellent English communication skills.

3) Highly neat, smart, intelligent, and playful.

4) Must be passionate about children and committed to serving in rural communities.

5) Willing and able to adapt to the rural lifestyle and responsibilities.

Eligibility Criteria:

1) Applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 30

2) Minimum academic qualification: SSCE or OND

3) Preferably single

4) Understanding of the Yoruba language is not compulsory
