I've always insisted that all the infrastructure building in Lagos is a waste if the state can't provide tap running water for the residents with all the humongous resources at its disposal. All the so-called building of Lagos is just window dressing

Lagos used to have pipe borne water before 1999 even under Marwa!!

Do you have a single sewage drainage system connected to every house, or are they making use of soakaway pits? If you don't have a single sewage drainage system in Lekki and the government can't provide it, then everything you are saying is nonsense.

I use to think that leki and Ikeja is heaven in Lagos, until I start going there, I realize that villages at Lagos breaths better air than those that lived in leki. Unpack refuse every where, no tap water, electricity non. Now government that supposed to provide their needs has finished them. Leki today is not the leki Nigeria knows then.

Treat water & make available portable pipe borne water to people’s houses/offices. That is what a responsible government should do. Lekki residents & by extension Lagos residents have no business providing a basic amenity like water to themselves because its not safe

Most Nigerians are not lazy, stupid, or unaware. In fact, they’re some of the most hardworking, creative, and resilient people on the planet. The problem isn’t the people—it’s the system that has consistently failed them.

Imagine a country where people dig their own boreholes, install their own solar, build private security, and still have to bribe someone for basic documents. That’s not because they're “ghetto” by nature—it’s because the structure forces individuals to carry the burden of government.

Look at Nigerians abroad: same black skin, different system—yet they thrive. So it’s not about “Black people” or even “Africa” leaving Nigeria behind. It’s about leadership, accountability, and planning. Other African countries like Rwanda, Botswana, and Namibia are making progress because systems are being allowed to work—even if imperfectly.

So yes, the situation is frustrating. But blaming the people is like blaming passengers for a plane crash caused by the pilot.

What we need is radical reform, honest leadership, and citizens who refuse to give up. Until then, we’ll keep seeing potential wasted and ghettos wearing designer roofs.

Plans are just that plans . If you cannot execute the plans , then shut up when others are executing theirs . The best you can do is encourage them to treat the water ( which majority of them do already) .

A responsible government will quickly do something to ensure they get good water . This is why I keep saying that Tinubu is truncating the potentials of lagos as he is doing in Nigeria . Lagos money spent to gain political powers . It is well with Lagosians and Nigerians

Mad ooo! My friend has been there for over 8 years. Same story. She has had enough and will be moving out in Dec when her rent expires. Rust don kill her car wheels and under the car. Always repairing car every 2 months. And Lagos flood is salty water. Very bad for cars
