I’ve been wondering how many people here have experience setting up software for schools.

Most schools I know still use pen and paper for fees, attendance, results, etc. But there is a free platform that can handle all that digitally. Most of the regular operations can be automated too.

Problem is, a lot of schools don’t know how to get started or who to call for setup.

I’m part of a project helping schools adopt this tool over the next year, starting August 2025.

The schools don’t pay for the software itself. They only cover the setup and onboarding work, so there’s opportunity for freelancers/IT people to make some money helping with onboarding.

Is anyone here interested in helping with this kind of setup?

What is the name of the free software you are talking about and how much are you willing to pay me to have it set up for you because this your question seems twisted in a way to make it look you want to pay something meagre since it's just setup. Any software you download on the internet may need customization to fit local use, may even have errors. So be free to use local developers than going to seek free online softwares that hardly meet local requirements without further coding

Let me clarify. We built a free school automation software to fit local use cases. While the setup is intuitive and easy (takes barely 5 mins), some schools need help getting onboard.

We are looking to work with local partners to help these schools out with the setup. Our product is well documented and we’ve curated resources to help.

We expect (and even advise) partners to charge between 30-150k for their setup services. They keep all of it. We don’t take a cut.

Your title is deceptive, when I contacted, you were selling me your software. Why not simply state that you need partners or affiliates to help you promote your software. You dont need to be shady, software marketing and growth is a strategic stuff.

It's about how much are you willing to pay? Meta is offering at least 10 top AI developers who they poached from open AI $1 billion salary offer right now. You cannot ask a Nigerian with that level of knowledge to build you an OS software and you want to pay $20. With the right pay, there are local developers. If you offer $1 billion today for an AI project you will be shocked there are local developers. Most knowledgeable local developers prefer working remotely with foreign companies, they don't accept local projects because the pay is often ridiculous. Ordinary N500,000 most Nigerian businesses cannot pay for a software and if they pay they expect to get a fraction of it through back hand. So that's why we mostly ignore local projects. When you simplify the payment structure to let's say N200 charges per user, they will still owe you six to eight months arrears until you start threatening to discontinue services. Nigeria is a peculiar place defined by lawlessness, negligence and incompetence and so is already cursed so that it will never get the best values from it's best knowledgeable and pragmatic citizens.

Have you downloaded visual studio enterprise version of recent? You can make all those spreadsheets app. However, you need to understand the difference between Nigeria and the developed world. Android studio files alone is over 40GB that one is billions of lines of code. Before the recent age of AI, they are handwritten and manually tested codes. If you give one individual 15 years just to type and test such codes he may even not get it right. Companies abroad believe in team spirit and division of labour. Microsoft for example employs more than 3000 software engineers USA alone and more in other countries such as India and UK. That makes it easy to have division of labour. You build only modules assigned to you and some other persons integrate all the different modules into one system. It is not one or even 2 engineers that build OS applications from scratch. But one engineer can modify one or two aspects of already existing OS such as Linux to form his own. The day a Nigerian company can employ 100 to 5000 local software developers, pay them standard developer rate of 100,000 to 200,000 USD per annum and leave them to work for 3 to 5 years, you will see that local OS can be built from scratch. But it takes group of people working together over a number of years to produce those billions of lines of code. Harmony OS built by Chinese company didn't start from scratch, they first modified readily available android OS and after about 5 years before they could complete their own OS built from scratch. And that's a well established Chinese company with thousands of engineers employed. It still took years. The problem with Nigeria and Africa is impatience and greed. We don't want to invest billions in our Tech industry and we don't have patience to build from scratch or assemble say 50 developers, pay them over the course of 5 years while waiting for them to complete the development of a product. Africa will remain market to whites for as long blacks lack patience, foresight and long term planning
