A tragic double murder rocked the Middleburg community early Monday morning after authorities say a 14-year-old boy shot and killed his parents during a domestic dispute.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene just after midnight following a chilling 911 call from the teenager, identified as Trevor Lee.

Sheriff Michelle Cook said Lee called authorities to report that he had shot his parents and was surrendering himself at a local church.

Deputies quickly located and took him into custody without incident.

When deputies arrived at the family's residence near Silver Point and County Road 220, they discovered the bodies of 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Smith inside the home.

Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting was the result of an argument between the teen and his parents late Sunday night.

What is Trevor Lee charged with?
Sheriff Cook said the weapon used belonged to the family and was left at the scene.

“There is no further threat to the community,” Sheriff Cook reassured during a morning press briefing. “We do want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family, the friends, and all of those who are affected by this heartbreaking incident.”

Authorities are now delving into Trevor Lee’s background, including his mental health history and school records, as they work to piece together what led to the fatal altercation.

He has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder. Sheriff Cook urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation remains active as the community mourns the devastating loss of two lives in what officials are calling one of the most heartbreaking cases they've encountered.

In another case of domestic violence gone wrong, Edward Kateule was allegedly beaten to death by his wife and brother-in-law.

Abigail Namwelu, aged 44, and her brother, Mutale Alex, descended on the 69-year-old man in the dead of the night and ended his life.

The brutal assault, fueled by alcohol and rage, left Kateule's body bloodied and broken in their home.

Africa old days parenting is what we should emulate because this modern day parenting is really wack how could an argument results to your own child carrying a firearm and shot the both parents dead, but when you spank or beat a child they sue you for domestic violence or child abuse, I can’t raise my kids in the US and some other countries because the society is too porous with gun violence and substance abuse that’s exactly what is ravaging the US moreover I keep saying one thing until the US make firearm illegal regardless of your status in the society you don’t get a license only then they can actually have peace, European countries that refused to legalize firearms for their citizens aren’t fools.

Train your children the way they should grow so that you will have rest of mind

His desire to murder his parents did not scary from today. He had nursed it until acted upon. A gun in the house may have been the foundation of those thoughts.

I think you have a valid point here. Guns has spirit.

Gun is a bad spirit, having a gun in the house is a treat to anyone in the family.

In USA, a 6 years old child has atleast 5 assault rifles, 3 pistols and atleast a granade in his/her wardrobe.

In my little opinion; Nigeria is safer than USA. At least in Nigeria security challenges are known and predictable (one can prepare for eventualities), but on the other hand, USA security challenges are unpredictable, now... now... one deranged, mentally unstable person fit just open fire kill like 50 people, without reason o. Chai...
