Former President Goodluck Jonathan has agreed to contest the 2027 presidential election, a close political associate has confirmed.



The revelation was disclosed by a senior member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) familiar with ongoing consultations involving the former leader, Vanguard reports.

I saw this coming and I have written something about it before. Because Obi seems not to go along with their negotiations and they believe Jonathan can do the dirty job for them. Both PDP and Jonathan know clearly that they can never win the election, but they have agreed to split the votes for Atiku.

What has that got to with Atiku, Jonathan will only split the votes for Tinubu and Obi, Atiku is no longer in PDP, this is a real warning shot for Tinubu

don't think it's possible. He's already served two terms in office. He completed yaraduas term from 2009 to 2011. His second term was from 2011 to 2015. I tell you, some APC top shots will go to court, and the court will bar him from contesting.
Besides, there's no guarantee that Nigeria's problems will be solved if Johnathan comes back.

If this is true , then tinubu is in a big trouble because Jonathan will destroy what is left of tinubu chances in the north which will pave way for atiku or Obi emergence as president .

This move could be atiku's game plan because it will favour him the most.

This is a 2 way gambit and I suspect it is the brain child of El Rufai as he seems to be the only person in that kolleshon that has small brain.

The first is that only GEJ can do 1 term without drama, Obi is a known liar so no way the north can trust him.
The second is that they want to divide the South. So drafting GEJ into the election is more or less to ensure the South has Tinubu, GEJ and Obi. That way the North want to ensure the numbers from the South get divided so that their real candidate from the North (Atiku most likely) can have a much easier ride.

The only problem in all of these is that they are dealing with a maestro named Tinubu.

He will be like bring it on.

This is speculative and I don't want to believe GEJ will be lured into Wike's sinister moves.

This is another orchestrated move to split opposition vote.So we will most likely have 4 opposition party challenging this APC. This is not looking encouraging.

I was a strong Jonathan die hard but his time to me has passed. His role outside power was troublesome. He has never joined OBJ as an elder statesman to speak out against injustice and bad governance in the land. Buhari victimised the Igbos all through his time because they voted Jonathan in 2015, did he ever speak against the Igbo marginalisation? I will rather support Tinubu to continue.

I agree with you. But politic is like the game of chess. You might think your best move is the winning move but your opponent gives you a counter move that can end the game immediately.

For Jonathan to defeat Tinubu, PO should not be in the race, and has to publicly support GEJ..

But PO has already promised that he will be in the 2027 presidential race. This drastically reduces the chance of GEJ winning.

PO has been the one in Nigerian's faces over the past 4 years, and his cult followership are 100% dedicated to the idea of an Obi presidency.

GEJ's only chance is for PO to drop out of the race.
