Hahaha😂So MTN has now become a juggernaut in Nigeria's telecom service sector to the point where newer industry entrants like 9mobile are now paying them roaming services to use their infrastructure No wonder 9mobile data tariffs are so expensive. They're obviously dumping the cost of paying for the roaming services on their customers/subcribers I guess the hey days of telcos gradually developing and building up their own critical infrastructure is officially over now With the way things are going now, I won't be surprised if GLO also has to start paying MTN roaming fees, which would be a huge embarrassment to the country. |

BlackViper:Mtn is own by whites. Same thing with Airtel by Indians. Any tech controlled by Nigerians hardly ever works in this country. 9mobile own by banks and some politicians. |

The network is so poor that you can't even port to another network... With this development, more customers will port |

BlackViper:Businesses in this country always tend to this trend where you notice only one major player standing quite head over others. Though allowed, why is the government not keying into raising the bar so competition may thrive. That's how jobs will be created |

Will their calls and data not be expensive seeing they now depend on mtn infrastructure for their operations? They should have outrightly sold out instead of wasting their time. |

11doubledee:You get the point. Get a licence, try finding investors, onboard new customers , give them premium service courtesy of the roaming and off you go. Being a billionaire won't be hard is ideas automatically meant money |

themanderon:Most international courier services use in Nigeria, charge lesser and ship thru DHL They get alloted space on a premium arrangement. So while DHL charge you as a single shipment customer, these other courier services get large discount for their allotment...and can charge whatever they like and combine goods together to ship as a company. The network of mtn might receive more payload, but they get to have bulk and consistent patronage from the contract with 9mobile. Mtn isn't building new infrastructure to accommodate 9mobile, its just plug and play. 9mobile won't need to install more infrastructure, they only plug in to support their customer base...and can charge less, since they are only paying to plug into mtn' network...and mtn won't charge them as much as they charge their own individual customers. Not only 9mobile, there is always negotiations for discounts if you're a corporate entity. |
