Is it not the English language that was written at night? Many things need to be known before we can have a fruitful discussion on this result, or may be the student took paper 1&3 without writing paper 2 at night. 31 Likes 1 Share |

The English Objective was in different types. I am sure waec must have programmed the computer marking the OMR in error. For instance, Type A answers were used to mark Type C questions because it just doesn't make sense for 1.2m candidates to fail English. 37 Likes 1 Share |

2special:Me too. I was wondering the language the student used to score A1s in most of his/her subjects. In my opinion, they probably didn't give her any opportunity to cheat on the day English Language was written. 2 Likes |

This showed how unreasonable the average Nigerian mind can be. When JAMB glitch occured, the government and people were rejoicing over children failing exams as a mark of success, until Alex Onyia called out the charade. WAEC releases these results and once again, Alex questioned the marking. We have people who still rejoiced over children failing examinations, as most of the posts in this thread are. WAEC has released a statement, confirming there was a technical glitch. Is it that people do not learn from past experience and are thus, unreasonable? A 38% pass rate in Nigeria cannot be a problem with the learners. It's an indictment on the educational system. 24 Likes

1. The candidate could have been sick/disoriented on the day of they sat the English language. 2. The examinations were written in a "miracle centre". An external supervisor visited the centre on day of English and they could get bullets. Reason 2 is more likely. 10 Likes 1 Share |

I think the student is just very good in sciences and readings, nothing much... Cut the person some slacks, English language as a subject is highly technical, you might think what you are answering is correct but just a letter amiss has set your whole answers tumbling. In my secondary school days, the guy that thought me mathematics in SS3 was the best maths teacher I ever had, the way he explains mathematics makes it looks so simple. If he had thought me from primary school or even from JSS class maths, I believe the phobia I have for maths would have been contained a long time ago. But guess what, this dude, a graduate then, can barely string good English sentences, a mainly communicate with us with Pidgin and English. He now works as an engineer the last time I saw him on Facebook. 5 Likes |

christejames:I have seen exceptional mathematics and science students like me with top-notch spoken and written English, but somehow my grades in English aren't as good as the ease I experience in science subjects. Some are very low in the use of English while struggling to have a C in English, and at the same time have a plethora of A's in science-related subjects. It's possible some students are just all-rounders, but I must add that it is on rare occasions that one can see this scenario happening. Most excellent students won't have issues having a C in English, even if the spoken English is poor, their writing skills would make them scale through. The assessment in WAEC is mainly based on reading and writing skills and not speaking or listening, all good students should pass, even though not excellently, the possibility of this been a malpractice is high. 6 Likes |

Glitches nothing anybody fit tell me. Other subjects where writing in English Language, so how come the person now failed English when he or she knows is one of the requirements for admission. 2 Likes |
