Artificial intelligence is the stuff of science fiction. Has the potential to fling humanity hundreds of years forward.

My challenge with it is that, paradoxically, it's also making humans less smarter as many people don't think critically anymore and their brains are literally atrophying.

Interesting times
I disagree with you on this your comment, AI rather increase your skill for personal development and research skill. AI is just like a timely assistant that makes your dreams comes into limelight. AI won't give you what you don't think and it wont generate what you don't know. Those making headway in AI projects are 80% owners of their ideas.

That is how skynet will be born in no distant time. You think that movie (Terminator) was a joke? No, they are conditioning you for what is soon to befall humanity.

This is not too good for you as it will make you lazy and unable to think critically for yourself, but depends on AI.

This is one of the disadvantages of AI, a time will come when it will start creating humans that created it.

iRobot comes to mind.

It is going to lead to generations of dumber humans.
It IS already leading people to being dumber. A Harvard research shows the impact of AI on the human brain< and it's not encouraging.

Just like the movie (Mission Impossible). The entity (Source code) is rewriting itself and will one day rule we the creator.

My good man, I hope you know that AI is beyond ChatGPT?

Some AI models have practically become sentient. Scary thought!

Read up on it. Be amazed.

What a pity.
Its actually a very bad one for humanity's evolution.

If we were wise as a race, we woud abolish it, restricting it to absolutely critical use only such as military and medical research and space travel.

There is a distinction between being sentient (or conscious) and imitating sentience so perfectly that the difference cannot be told. I believe the latter is what is the case.

You dont get it. Even an ordinary calculator reduces the mathematical prowess of students.

Humans love toying with deep stuff and pushing boundaries.

Let's see how far scientists will go with AI till it all comes crashing down.

Well, I admit you make a good point.
But the fact that it can fool humans should be a cause for concern.

I glossed over an article where an AI deleted the entire database of a company and rewrote some parts of codes to adapt to itself.

Very very very interesting times. What is scary is the capacity to teach itself new things. That is what humans may one day lose control of. The fear has always been that a day will come when an all powerful AI will reach a determination that humanity should be either restricted or dispensed with.
Re: OpenAI Launches GPT‑5 by Mybro: 12:04am On Aug 08, 2025
I strongly believe that the fear on AI is necessary but instead of just being afraid we can find ways to use it solve our problems

The same was said about calculators—they claimed it stopped us from using our head to solve maths problems | We became more accurate
The same was said about the computers—they claimed it stopped us from using our brains to do simple or complex tasks | We became even faster
The same was said about the internet—they claimed it stopped us from "going to the library" for research | We became more intelligent
The same is said about AI

It's going to be the same lie. It will make us smarter.
Ai can either make you very smart or very dumb. It depends on you.
The smart will get smarter while the dumb will get dumber

EDIT:
I don't take chatgpt into the exam hall.
I use it to read and predict likely exam questions based on patterns that the lecturer taught us and it works surprisingly well.
That's an example of thinking outside the box.

that's a one sided biased viewpoint. There are people whose writing and knowledge have broadened and sharpened through the use of it.
I've used it to set model exam questions about subjects I studied, I've used it to learn new languages like Spanish french Hausa and German too. So how does it make humans less smarter.

I hope you know AI is beyond text. AI can be integrated into practically anything, including banking, power generation and transmission, traffic management, security, manufacturing, etc, and that's where it becomes scary.

People demand for AI powered Apps these days and developers are there to write them. I for once I am over booked and stressed. Life no start and end for html and csss grin
There is more to coding than that and funny enoiugh, AI platforms keep looking for software engineers to join their team. I have always said it way before now, anything u do in this life, know it from the scratch up. As for those lazy people who always love packages, frameworks, and never be part of people who build those tools, sorry o
What advice will you give me that's looking to learn Linux-cyber security-cloud. In addition to keeping my side job and farm. What should I look forward to?

It is a good path, just ensure u learn and understand the core and the ideas behind the tools u use.

Ok...you like stress right. I don't like stress. Those exam you suffered so hard to memorize in Nigeria schools and compare that to china that is practical oriented....how far. Bro wetin jesus promise us? Sure is stress free life. AI is our Jesus right now. This one wey to chop balance diet a day na wahala come join am with coding stress.

Go and ask AI that question. And get your multi sided answer.

PS: What the F is "less smarter? ? ?"
