Peter Obi In Pains, Desperately Longs For Power After 3 Months Stint In SEC by Ezewuzie01(op): 6:00am On Aug 08, 2025
Many Nigerians don't know or have already forgotten that Peter Obi was appointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission as Non executive chairman after President Goodluck Jonathan was squarely defeated in the 2015 election. With just two months to leave office, Jonathan quietly appointed Obi as the SEC chairman since the expected role of Secretary to the Government of the Federation that Jonathan had reportedly reserved for Obi upon his victory in the election did not work out as planned.

When President Buhari and APC took over, instead of Peter Obi to resign as a genuine opponent of APC, he held on to the position hoping against hope that Buhari would retain him and he will continue to eat federal money. But Buhari swept him away after a month in office together with all other Jonathan appointees. So if you check SEC history, Peter Obi has the unenviable record as the shortest serving SEC chairman in history with just 3 months in office!

This is one reason among others why he is so desperate and even bitter to get into the federal government at all cost even vowing to do only 4 years as President when he couldn't achieve any positive impact in 8 years in a small state like Anambra.

Oga, when Peter Obi was a student, he had already started building school hostels and office spaces for big organisations. At your age, he was already paying $30k - $50k doing courses at the world's best universities, including Harvard, Oxford, Kellogg, etc.

I don't understand how a grown man can decide to become an online apologist for the rest of his life. If GEJ appointed Peter Obi to serve and he didn't resign, so what? Didn't GEJ appoint Emefiele and Buhari retained him? Instead of thanking God for giving you a chance to be alive, the first thing you can think of is creating a thread just to demarket another man. Go and fix your life because we get old every second.

If you like reply me, you'll certainly be ignored.

Based on his 8 years as Anambra state governor which he failed, it was his people who asked Buhari to sack him as SEC board.

The said people who made that recommendations then are the same people trying to force Peter Obi on us due to tribalism

A lot of people still don't know Obi served under the APC government. Buhari did a good job by sacking the fraud

@ Nnamdi Ezewuzie, at your age, Peter Obi is already a billionaire. Between January - July Obi has spent 1Bollion in charity. How much is in your account? Obi is made for life whether he becomes President or not. Y'all are the one suffering it not him.

it seems there is a concerted attack by some groups of people on peter obi. this man is not even the presidential candidate of any party yet and hardly a day goes without his name stirring up debate controversies and analysis both on social media and electronic media. Wahoo, i must admit this is really great for peter obi and it show how popular he is and how the powerful politicians see him as a big big threat. even Atiku and tinibu don't generate the amount of attention and traffic that the mere mention of the name peter obi commands and controls

OP, now that you have brought this up, this is also similar to what happened with him being the chairman of Fidelity Bank, the one he always brags about.

He is also one of the shortest if not the shortest chairman in their history. He quickly ran from there to go and enjoy government money.

All these talk about billionaire this and that, his business history is not clear. He has once been accused of having been involved in drugs, I will not be surprised if it turns out to be true.
