Budget Phone Vs Used Flagship In 2025 — Which Makes More Sense? by Desewa08(op): 9:11pm On Jul 27, 2025
For years I was team “Buy used flagship”.
‎Why? Because:
‎– You get better cameras
‎– Faster processors
‎– Bragging rights (let’s be honest 😅)

‎But those used phones? Battery is often weak. No warranty. Sometimes they’ve been opened or refurbished without your knowledge. So I tried something different this time: bought a new budget phone instead... the realme C75x.

‎Why I Chose It Over a Used Flagship:
‎I almost went for a used Galaxy S20 FE or iPhone SE 2020 but I thought:

‎“Why not try something new, with warranty, that’s built for 2025?”

‎The C75x gave me:
‎– 8GB RAM
‎– 128GB ROM
‎– Android 15
‎– 120Hz display
‎– IP69 water & dust protection
‎– Massive 5600mAh battery
‎– Fast charge (0-100% in 90 mins)

‎And most importantly… I don’t need to worry about battery health or whether it was used in 4 countries before it reached me 😭. The Cold Truth About Used Flagships is I’ve owned used flagships before and while they shine in some areas (especially camera), here’s the honest truth:
‎ • Battery never lasts like new
‎ • Heating issues are common
‎ • No software updates after a while
‎ • Repairs? Good luck finding the right part or original screen

‎And let’s not forget that water splash or drop can be the end if it's already compromised.

‎Just wanted to share my experience because I think budget phones are finally catching up.

‎If you’ve used the C75x or any other budget device recently that shocked you in a good way... share your experience in the comments

If I can see a good specs and can handle what I do, I'm definitely going for a budget phone

True sha, if you buy a used flagship phone, be prepared for anything you face. You might not be lucky to get a good one.

I think it's between 178k - 240k depending on what version you're after, the 6gb Ram or 8gb Ram version.

Most people would take this like you're slandering flagship brands but no! There are devices like realme that offers you quality that are way better than used flagship brands of 4years plus but because it's not flagship it doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

If a used flagship has better specs on paper but an uncertain battery health and no warranty, is it still worth it?

What the heck am I reading? Which kind standup comedy be this one? You chose low budget device instead of flagship. I pity whoever takes this your advice seriously

It's the case of getting flagship features in a budget phone, rather than spending so much outrightly in flagship devices

Ngl!! Budget phones are really starting to exceed expectations
Like this C75, I heard C75x gives you just a little less spec, but basically some thing for less the price
Just crazy how budget phones are starting to blow minds

They are all raving mad, if they want to market budget phones ,then fine, but trying to downplay flagship device Is borderline silly

What kind of flagship feature is better than having a device with Flagship SOC? You're telling people to go for Realme C75 which is a low budget device even when the person has the funds to get a Samsung Galaxy S24. That offers way more. S24 might not have that armor protection but in every other aspect, it is miles above C75. It's like comparing a Ferrari to a tricycle simply because the tricycle has some sort of armor on it. Realme C75 is for people on a low budget and don't mind low performance. The phone is made for people who are usually careless and have butter fingers. Even tecno Camon 18 premier of 2021 still has a way better camera than the C75 I tested last week. Realme C75 is a good phone no doubt but don't deceive people to get it over midrange and flagship devices.

You are arguing with a marketer, not a random dude who's made a bad device choice. He gets paid to say these rubbish, he probably even cringes typing these rubbish but he/she has to get paid so survival trumps reasoning

PS... Don't be surprised these monikers are same person, save yourself the trouble, he probably also does not believe all he's written

I have seen realme launch their flagship devices in other countries, don't know why we don't have it in Nigeria yet. But all the same I so love their C series, the quality is top notch
