Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed that he and ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, started the opposition coalition.

Amaechi said he and Fayemi decided to expand the opposition coalition to accommodate more people.

The former governor of Rivers State made this public during a chat on an X space titled: “Weekend Politics” on Friday.

The coalition currently has eminent Nigerians like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.

Others include Boss Mustapha, former Senate President, David Mark, former Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, former Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, among others.

The coalition recently adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in its move to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

However, Amaechi said: “Fayemi and I began the coalition discussion, and we subsequently agreed to broaden it so that it would involve more than just the two of us talking about starting a new party.

“We must create a middle class, and put money in the pockets of Nigerians; insecurity will reduce.”

He also disclosed that he became the Speaker of Rivers State at the age of 32 years.

According to Amaechi, he served in that capacity for eight years without being impeached.

“I was the first Speaker at the age of 32 years and led the Rivers State Assembly for 8 years without being impeached,” he added.

Amaechi was fighting not just for his political survival, he was also fighting against a witchhunt had Jonathan won. Or do you want to pretend you cannot remember his travails in the hands of mam Peace and Wike.

It was GEJ that drove him to the warm embrace of Tinubu and Co not that he just decided to betray GEJ or SS as you are claiming.

He can't even contest and win the governorship of the state he ruled for 8 years if he tried today.

Yet, he is here talking about becoming president.

Yes, he has the funds to buy delegates, as he did in the APC 2022 primaries.

However, what path does he have to win a general election?

Who will be his deputy?

Mr Fayemi can't deliver 15,000 votes in Ekiti.

No one outside Ekiti reckons with him in the South West.

He can't deliver 600 votes in Osun.

He can't deliver 4,000 votes in Ondo (Ondo and Ekiti share a long political history)

He can't deliver 400 votes in Ogun.

He cant deliver 500 votes in Oyo.

He can't deliver 1,500 votes in Lagos.

It is laughable that people outside the SW think Mr Fayemi is a big fish.

These are out-of-favour and politically spent figures, desperately seeking relevance by masquerading as champions of democracy. Their sudden activism is nothing but a ploy to claw their way back to power and once again feast on its spoils. They have nothing meaningful to offer—only a thirst for power. Those betting on them to unseat the master strategist are merely chasing the wind; the end will be nothing short of premium tears.

Don't mind Rotimi the guy use to be great but I can't say so now. Was he not in the Buhari's government for 8years? That same government grounded this country almost beyond repair and the current man and his men are trying to bury it.

I don't need a tinubu or a Rotimi, an atiku or even the kadyna devil come 2027.

So that the whole Yoruba race will label him a betrayer? Everyone has seen how you Yorubas have made Tinubu's presidency a Yoruba supremacy agenda but it's a bad approach to take. A lot of Southwesterners are displeased with Tinubu but can't voice out due to the backlash. They will secretly do the needful.

How is being the youngest speaker ever in Nigeria and going two-terms without interruption not an achievement? Not only was he speaker during his time, he was Chairman of the forum of speakers across the 36 states of the federation. Amaechi has excelled in every task he has been saddled with. The records are there.

Amaechi was instrumental in bring the satanic party APC and served under APC for 8yrs. He will not be rewarded with the presidency esp because he will not fundamentally change Nigeria.
