Ndi- IGBO: THE NEW COLONIAL DEVELOPERS IN AFRICA There are reasons the old Ndi-Igbo were admired, trusted like other Nigerians throughout Africa and beyond: until lately, as their Youths took over. Igbo hard work and trust in Yoruba established businesses were very reliable. Their contribution by way of culture, businesses and African ethics to their hosts throughout Africa gave them a good reputation. Nigerians were worldly welcomed for their professional skills, during Peace Keeping and Wars to rebuild. When Kmame Nkrumah told us to be wary of Colonial Explorers in Africa, he would not have known that there are African developers beating their chests for bringing economic salvation to fellow Africans in the name of petty trade. Nkrumah himself was a strong African developer that encouraged economic liberation in most African countries. Africans remember Nkrumah for his selfless devotion to African liberation from the yoke of European colonialism. We cannot imagine any educated African leader throwing out the children of Nkrumah, but Nigeria did. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi Awolowo cried when the children of Nkrumah were thrown out of Nigeria under the excuse that they increased the crime rate as every intolerant world leader used it as an excuse to throw out migrants. Some even claimed Kofi Busia as President of Ghana, threw Nigerians out of Ghana first. Even if Kofi Busia had thrown out Nigerians first, which country in the world can afford to take all the refugees from Nigeria if the country breaks into pieces? The population of Ghana can be compared to that of Lagos. So which African countries would willingly take any number of Nigerians “invasion” without threatening its own infrastructure and economic survival. Tanzania barred foreign nationals from owning and operating mainly small-scale businesses, sparking concern and a backlash from neighboring Kenya. The new directive prohibits them from 15 sectors including mobile money transfers, tour guiding, small-scale mining, on-farm crop buying, beauty salons, curio shops and establishing radio and TV operations. Tanzania’s Industry and Trade Minister Jafo put it succinctly that he hoped their ban announced on foreigners, would also encourage other foreigners to invest in large-scale businesses. Most countries want to keep petty trades and small businesses in the hands of the locals. Resentments against Nigerians are not coming from South Africa, Ghana or Tanzania alone. Yet, most African countries welcome Dangote, a Nigerian investment! SOURCE: |

@OP. You left out the important parts of the article, to include the conclusion, without which the entire opinion piece makes little sense. https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/355038/ndi-igbo-the-new-colonial-developers-in-africa.html#google_vignette

helinues:The way you morphed up from a wannabe social critic into a full-fledged anti-igbo, genocide baying/corruption defending partisan ur-ch-in on these pages, in a space of two years, is overwhelmingly alarming. Sham-elessly too. You guys from the Southwest branch of the jan-ja-we-ed party the APC, have found it incredibly difficult to distinguish ure partisan contests from prim-itive ethnic mudslinging. It seem as if the way you guys were raised, every contest with a "non native" has to be dragged to the gut-ters of name calling, property destructions, viol-lent att-acks and vigorous but laughable attempts at ethnic clean-sing. You all can do better. Presidency wey fulani don use wipe nyansh for decades, na him una get and for 2 years una wan kpai all "ene-mies" of "great omualabis"? both real and perceived. Una well done oo |

helinues:Dude is just bitter. Don't mind him. Even what he accuses you of, the conclusion of the article explains factually. Yet me and you know them as irresponsible. Everything is always the fault of others while they are always virtuous and blameless. They must all act like GRV, Azikiwe, Kanu and co constantly yet when Yorubas begin reacting and showing enough is enough, in the spirit of self-preservation, they begin playing victim and accusing us of condemnable behaviour they are masters of. I personally don't think the relationship between Yorubas and Igbo can ever be repaired because of what the author of the article , below, rightly confirms about the pugnacious, ungracious , typically bigoted and entitled attitude of young Igbos towards Yorubas in Yoruba land. Yoruba youths, unlike our fathers, are rising up against it. They have really damaged things to force the hands of Yorubas with the consequences of that now visible today.

owobokiri:Ye of course we must view him a condemnable villain who is in the wrong against you guys who are all virtuous saints and victims of wrong behaviour of others worldwide. Be that in South Friday, Kenya, Ghana, Indonesia, India, Thailand. Etc. What is shown below is the truth for any decent, upright and God-fearing person. Continue denying it to feed historical obsession with demonizing a people who have been the best allies and enablers of you guys, in the entire world, yet you took for granted and decided to turn into your enemies because they will not allow you dominate them as Azikiwe sought his entire political life yet failed to achieve.

Capt Nwoboisi who murdered Akintola left his own kinsmen Orizu the Senate and acting President , Mbadiwe(Azikiwe’s right hand man), Gen Ironsi and Col Hilary Njoku who were supposed to be high strategic targets all alive in Lagos and drove over 100km in the middle of the Night to Ibadan Just to assassinate Akintola ? Whichever way you look at it, it was definitely Tribal |

Christistruth03:Of course it was. They are just mad we are now aware of their nefarious intentions and repelling them. Our trusting and accommodating fathers and grandfathers gave them multiple chances. This is despite the proven fact their fathers and grandfathers, in Azikiwe etal, are guilty of only ever nurturing an agenda of ethnic domination and covetously expansionist incursion into the SW They believed the accommodating credentials of Yorubas to mean we are 'mumus' they can subjugate in their own land as Fulanis have succeeded to achieve against Hausas. Cannot happen. Igbos and Fulanis are broadly the same, I.e both are malevolent expansionists and covetous land grabbers even as their modus operandi may differ. The crucial difference is that Yorubas are not Hausas who willingly ceded what is in the best interest of their generations unborn into modern Fulani slavery. Whereas the Fulanis succeeded in the North, the Igbos will fail in Yoruba land always. The greatest anger of most Igbos, which many in the Yoruba intelligentsia class are aware of, is the bitter disappointed they have not being able to achieve in the SW what the Fulanis have against the populously predominant Hausas in the North. |

Wickedtruths:Lol. I have always said Igbo man never says what he means and never means what he says. When an Igbo man foams at the mouth against you lenghtily then it will usually be because you have prevented him from аchieving his hidden and nefarious agenda. Obi rants rabidly against PBAT daily while he slavishly worships Atiku and other Fulanis ingratiatingly. Yet can Obi, who says he is a pal of "good people" IPOB, confess those Kanu said Igbo must fight to get the entire SE to key into the whole IPOB lunacy that has now turned ther region into Somalia? Was it a need to fight to the death the Yorubas and Tinubu or Buhari and his Fulani "jihadists" Kanu and co used to get Igbos backing and donating to their cause whereas Obi and co, after IPOB has destroyed Igboland, now wish to change the narrative today to present Tinubu and "ndi Yorubas' as the new and greatest enemies of the Igbos? |

It is so sad that Igbo Youths hatred for their fathers' benefactor and best friends in the world, get to this point. They actually thought they could bully their way through, especially in Yorubaland. WizardOfNG: |

I just hope this cat fight end well but I doubt if Yoruba will ever open their hearts the way they did in the past. After all, they recently voted for Peter Obi in Lagos. Only for Peter Obi to go to Alaba and thank the Igbo! |
