you can see from the bible that he asked him to go there because of what he had promised to do for him... The instructions came with with a promise, go back And read Genesis 12vs 1-3

Yes the bible says we should honour our parents but I really don't go back to that verse before I give honour to my parents. My only motivation is love. I have never thought about the blessings I would get before giving them honour. I can bet you that humans were honouring their parents before the 10 commandments were given. Many of us just do it out of love not because it is written.
I have friends that I help once in a while, I don't do it because I expect any reward. I do it because I love them.
Now don't you think there are some people out there who obey God more out of love than because they seek a blessing?
. Haven't you ever read Proverb 19vs 17

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done"

I have but I have never been kind toy friends because of Proverbs 19.17. I have only been kind because I love them.
Remember, your argument is that we follow God for what we would gain. I don't show kindness to friends for what I would gain. I don't love my parents for what I would gain. I do these for other reasons.
