According to UNICEF, Nigeria has the world’s second-highest number of stunted children, with 32 per cent of children under five affected. In Awe, a rural community in Nasarawa State, north-central Nigeria, Salamatu Madaki flips through a register in search of the names of malnourished children. It’s the middle of the year, and the numbers in her care as the local government’s nutrition coordinator tell a story she wishes she could rewrite before the year ends.https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/813125-special-report-food-inflation-worsens-child-malnutrition-crisis-in-northern-nigeria.html?tztc=1

The government should do the needfuls and stop paying lip service what to is urgently important. They should tackle issue of terrorism, which is preventing most farmers from farming.Large shrunk of the proceeds from subsidy removal should be spent on food production The issue of stunted growth will become something of the past automatically. |

This is what I raised earlier These are the real people paying for the twin evils of subsidy removal and naira devaluation When you see them saying allocation has increased, these are the children being robbed of a meal that normally is not even decent but at least it can give them the basics to survive childhood 100 children die every hour due to malnutrition in Nigeria, a country not at war. That's the cost of removing subsidy in a country with no social buffers so that govs can go in bigger convoys and VP can get new residence Meanwhile, this is only for rural areas in the north. There is also hunger and malnutrition ravaging urban centres both north and south of the country |

There is serious hunger in the land and President Tinubu seems not to be concern about it. Food is now luxury as the price keeps going up. To make just small vegetable soup that won't even last you in a sitting will cost averagely 2K without meat/fish. 10KG of Semo is close to 20K now and 4 litre of oil is around 10K, an egg is now 250-300 naira now. Tinubu should consider us Almajiri. |
