Originalsly:The school produced one of the highest UTME/JAMB scorers of 2023/4. The belief that top secondary schools don't produce grads with stellar grades is misplaced. |

/ Lolz. The way Nigerians are copying everything Americans including the vices, in no distant time, school shootings will be a thing. From sagging, tattoos, braiding, white socks over flip-flops, Halloween, Black Friday, babymama syndrome and now down to prom; prepare for the worst case scenario in future. / |

Goodlyhrt:Prom Is not just a party; it’s a cultural statement Prom is not a tool. It’s a culture. And before we rush to embrace another people’s culture, we must first ask: why? History teaches us that Western societies have long borrowed from African cultures such as music, fashion, dance , but they usually take only what positively enriches their lives. That is wisdom. They protect their core identity while selecting from others. Don’t we celebrate the Japanese for their ingenious creatives today. But do these people lost touch with their culture in anyway. So, you should stop mixing things up. In the West today, cultural alienation is a real concern. Even the mighty Greeks, at one point, lost their cultural grip when their language declined, and their people migrated away. Culture is fragile when neglected. Just recently I saw something bizarre at Ojude Oba this year, some participants came dressed fully in Western attire at a deeply traditional Yoruba celebration. That is not a small choice. It’s a statement. Whether intentional or not, it says: I prefer another people’s identity over my own. I had asked myself why did the lady bother showing up in that ceremony when she clearly pointed out from her dress that she detested her culture? Why? Did you see on the TV recently when a group of African leaders went to the White House in the US and how Trump was ridiculing one of them ? Tell me if that man has spoken in his own language, would that have happened? That incident showed clearly that the African leader bargaining power was very low. That wouldn’t have happened if the dignitaries were Asians. Trust me. Lots of you appreciate western culture today because west promoted it with all that they have. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with adopting aspects of other cultures. Technology? Innovation? Art? , we should embrace them. But when the purpose has no real benefit to the people, it’s not cultural enrichment. It’s brainwash. It’s low self-esteem at its best. Ask yourself what are we gaining from replicating the Prom ceremony? Do the Benin people not have beautiful traditional outfits? Do we lack electrifying songs and dances that could be celebrated instead? When we replace our own beautiful traditions with imported ceremonies, we risk becoming strangers in our own homes. Protect the essence of our society. Borrow wisely. Preserve strongly . I leave you with this video watch and you can understand the beauty of when you cherish your own culture. https://youtube.com/shorts/t0bHmxBtUG8?si=clEUBWEPtuKSy-eD |

What has Jesus got to do with this? What exactly do you have against the Person of Jesus? What evil has Jesus done to anybody including yourself? Why bring Jesus into a vain culture orchestrated by Satan! THIS SAME JESUS is WAITING for YOU! Salvation is a CHOICE and an EMERGENCY! NO JESUS! NO LIFE! KNOW JESUS! KNOW LIFE! NO JESUS! NO PEACE! KNOW JESUS! KNOW PEACE! My message of love for you! Jesus taught me to love my neighbour as myself and EVEN LOVE MY ENEMIES!! Matthew 5:44-45 But I say unto you, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, BLESS them that curse you, DO GOOD to them that hate you, and PRAY FOR THEM which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the CHILDREN OF YOUR FATHER which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. I use to have a love interest who work as a teacher in this school, no wonder we don't talk that much. I hope the teacher are also well taken care of as it's obvious the students are having the best of their lives. |

CoronaVirusPro:Researcher, your 'research' which is fueled your racist tendencies is bullshit. *Whites don't detest prom. *Black record labels promote black music and they're the way they are because of single parenthood which they celebrate. * Jesus Christ is TRULY the ONLY way to salvation. |

Borrowed Tradition. Should we copy everything that the Whiteman does? Let's try to always propagate our own culture and traditions instead of that of Foreigners'. |

immortalcrown:Is the older generation not also more keen to see physical projects as good governance outcomes rather than the employment of teachers and other civil servants, who are well paid to provide free basic education for all children, as well as other services and utilities? So what should we do to make amends ![]() |

immortalcrown:Which results are you talking about? The ones most of them get through all manners of cheating, expo, sorting, and malpractice? Most of us studied hard back in the day and looked ahead to face the future. Na their parents we go blame. Unfortunately, our generation is their parents. We failed woefully in parenting. Bros, we failed as parents. When you support corrupt politicians, what do you expect from your younger generation? |

These are the things you don't find in the north that make them say the north are uncivilized. Irresponsibility, prostitution and shamelessness cannot be our culture. What will they become or do in the university talk less of when they graduate in the society. Shegu banzai kowai |

Elliotwaveforec:Quote one thing the Arab sells to the Nigerian Muslims that indoctrinate them please. The Muslims follows the doctrine of the holy Quran, hadiths and ijmai (Islamic jurisprudence) all over the world. I know you will start telling me what a Hausa Fulani person does in the north but you will fail to check whether every other Muslims does that in the South. If a Hausa Fulani man commit offence it is terrorism because maybe he is a Muslim but if another man commits same offence in the South it is just hooliganism and his religion has nothing to do with it. Hypocrisy doesn't erase truth and only the truth saves and results to proper resolution of social menace. |
