@op, please learn to ignore people who evoke negativity. It never really ends well. On that note, I enjoyed your posts and originality. Occasionally, I detected that chatgpt helped out in some areas and almost stopped reading because of that but the comments kept me going.

My advice is this. This thread is interesting because of your unique voice and positivity which are very engaging. Please don't lose that to naysayers and AI. I wish you the very best in your journey.

You’re still talking about your sister? Dat one pain you O!. Do you even know madina? Lol or maybe you’re wondering how I got to know about your sister. Lol

Please come back here to tell us when you finally run back to Nigeria because I know you must do so. Lol

I sincerely wish you well my guy.
Typical Nairaland man. I laugh at you if you feel am pained.

I was looking forward to knowing you or meeting you but I see now that will be a futile and wasted effort because of the level of negativity coming from you.

I would suggest you try and love God.

Just be calming down okay... 1 cedis= 145 naira. Let go of the need to tell people what choices they have to make my brother.

Nigeria is good, Ghana is good... Everything is in your perspective.

There is no excitement here just God....
God moved Abraham from his father's land, God moved Joseph, God also moved Paul.

The motivation is God

My brother are you God that you know all.
I love your response to that guy.

It's becoming so so unbecoming of Tinubu's brothers honestly.

They always believe their region is heaven that they shouldn't explore anywhere else but in that their heavenly region still, there are beggars begging for alms on daily basis. There are jobless graduates that can't find work. There are hungry mothers that have lost hope of ever having a good life yet they castigate others and other regions.

Even Europeans do leave their beautiful European countries to explore undeveloped countries in Africa and Asia.

Chinese leave their super developing China to explore third world countries in Africa and Asia.

When they hear someone relocated or migrated, they start to shalaye, they start to pretend as if they aren't looking for opportunity to migrate to Europe, America, etc because they are not always confident and brave enough to explore undeveloped and developing countries, they love already made nations where they will go to and resume work tomorrow and start partying, they hate to build things from scratch, they hate to contribute to building communities and be a part of the history. They only want already-made countries where they will go to exploit the opportunities some brave people created from scratch, that's why you see them despise migrating to upcoming nations and regions in Nigeria and instead of remaining quiet and allow those that are brave enough to explore all territories of the world to do so, they will always rear their ugly heads in an attempt to shalaye.

But what they fail to understand is that not everyone prefers to relocate to Europe, America, etc, some have their destinies in nearby African countries, some in Asia, etc.

Migration is as old as man but they make it seem like a taboo.

I love the way you listed great men in the Bible that migrated abroad based on God's direction and instruction, and they became great living abroad.

The op stated from his first writeup that his journey is based on God yet you can't just read and pass, wishing him well.

You want everyone to praise Nigeria that it has become the next London with massive infrastructure as if every Nigerian lives in Bourdillion Ikoyi or Maitama or New Owerri or Portharcourt GRA, or Independence Layout Enugu, etc.

You don't know where others are coming from. You don't know what they have been through with life to make them take the bold step of relocating out of their country. You just want people to continually fake patriotism to please your wicked souls even when Nigeria has been unfair, unkind and unfavourable to them and their struggles for a better life.

When you try to overlook their foolishness, another one of them creeps in from another angle with yet another disgusting attitude.

My brother please ignore the naysayers, focus on your goal, focus on your mission, don't let anybody distract you with their negative words. It is not a crime to migrate out of ones country, it is not a crime to relocate to a place you believe would favour you more in life. Just do well to stay away from crime, apply your Portharcourt wisdom and create a business niche there and help Ghanaians solve one or two of their daily problems and you will be celebrated and rewarded with riches and wealth. God will definitely show you mercy and favour. Whatever made you take the decision will continue to help you achieve your heart desires.

I wish you and your sister over there the best. May God be with you all and keep you away from harm.

Please ignore the naysayers, most of them are still struggling in that their same Nigerian paradise they want every Nigerian to be hailing even in empty stomachs and blurry future angry

Ghana you hear on the news is different from the Ghana you will see when you land.

Ghana is a very peaceful country, nobody will harass you in Ghana they are not like Nigerians that look for trouble unless you start misbehaving.

I have lived there before precisely Accra for good 2 years plus. To be sincere with you if you live in Ghana for one month you won't like to live in Nigeria again.

A lot of Nigerians are doing well there, majority of them married Ghanaians.

Even the ones that are into Cyber games can never think of relocating back to 9ja, because you can't compare Ghana police or immigration with Nigerian police.
You mean Ghana police are better than one country police wey take civilians as enemies.?

So we continue.....

From Cotonou, our bus was gliding along so smoothly you’d think we were in a presidential convoy. The roads were spotless, the lanes well-marked, and motorcycles even had their own right of way. I couldn’t help but still imagine : Can Nigeria ever be like this?

But as every seasoned traveler knows the closer you get to the next border, the more “vibes and inshallah” takes over.

Soon enough, we were rolling out of Cotonou and passing some toll gates, then onward until the pilot announced:

“We’ll make a short stop at Hillacondji.”

Now, I don’t know about you, but that name Hillacondji alone sounds like a movie character. It was around 5:30pm, and the driver told us to take a little break, stretch our legs, use the toilet, maybe change some currency for the journey ahead.

I didn’t waste time. I jumped down from the bus and headed straight for the first mission: empty the bladder. Thank God I did oh if not, by the time we hit the border, my bladder for don write petition against me.

Mission one complete, I turned to cross the road… and that’s when I saw it: a suya stand that seemed to be whispering my name like an ex trying to come back into my life.

As a certified meat lover, I couldn’t resist. I went straight to cure my “meat konji at Hillacondji” before we crossed the border.

While waiting for my suya to roast to perfection, I also changed some money with the Bureau de Change guys hanging around.

Fun fact — they still accept naira here, so my ₦2000 suya transaction went smoothly.

The suya was too good to keep to myself, so I shared it with a few fellow passengers who had become my border buddies along the way. Meat and travel stress ; that’s a friendship formula right there.

With stomachs satisfied and pockets adjusted for the CFA economy, we re-boarded the bus and headed straight towards the Benin–Togo border… and that’s where the real “Border Chronicles” continued.

Hit the like button to motivate me to continue. Thanks
I was expecting you to make a remark at the CFA currency rate, I passed through those route last year, after my marriage, my wife said the money we would have used to feed the community, let's use it as a honeymoon trip to Ghana 🇬🇭.

When we got to Maza Maza, the delay tactics came in, then we have to show them shege 🤣🤣🤣

We took bus and we went to badagry roundabout, took a bus to Seme border.

Problem we had then is that, we didn't process our yellow card 💳 Togo and Ghana took alot of money from us because of yellow card.

It was a nice trip ✈️, but I used Chisco while coming back.

But when next I'm going, I will take a bus to badagry and get to Seme border, after crossing, the first market and park by your right, Benin 🇧🇯has the best chicken, my wife keeps telling us to go and buy enough of their chicken and come back.

I told her those chickens are contraband.

I love your story.

I'll continue reading

Moving to Ghana is an achievement now? Even with monetary gifts, I won't move an inch towards Ghana. What's Ghana that you need encouragement to talk about?
Not blaming you entirely but government...
But have it in mind that there's nothing you do in Nigeria that you don't make money.

Hey Chief, I'm not one to discourage you lol. We share zero contention for resources or objectives, so your failure or success is not my decision or concern. I'm only enlightening people that are still here, that will read your threads and make hurried decisions.

Bringing in God in such a blackmailing manner is also a bit childish. I believe I'm more of a practicing Christian than you (trust me on this), but God also asked us to be wise and also plan.

Just to further butress my point, you made mention of Ghana cedis being 145 to the naira, did you know that the cedis was rebased ( a few zeros were removed)? Do you also know that, the naira has better purchasing power than the cedis?

I wish you the best on your sojourn. And in whatever you do, please give Nigeria a good name through your actions there.

Peace and light my Gee.

How I moved from Port Harcourt to Ghana!!!

Your comments will encourage me to continue. Thanks

I understand your concern, but if the road is safe and the transport company guarantees a good bus and sane driver, I will rather go to a new place by road. If I am going to Ghana, I am definitely going by road. I don't mind paying for the finest bus I can find, but it would be by road. It adds flavour to the vacation experience as I get to take in the scenery and see the land borders. Nature is beautiful.

Plan very well.
I was in Nigeria recently,l still ate beans and pap on the street of lagos for 1k but here 2k cannot feed you on a spot.
So,plan well well if not you go see mermaid water physical with hunger.
That's because of exchange rate. 1 cedi is now 150 Naira. A plate of rice and egg in Accra I bought last year was 10 cedis which was 1,000 Naira. Now it will be 1500 Naira still at 10 Cedis.

Before Tinubu that same plate would just be 500 Naira because before Tinubu 1 cedi was just 50 Naira

Ghana is peaceful and all but Nigeria is way better. I have great friends from my short vacations in Labone and Osu, however our high brow areas will easily dust theirs.

I'm not saying this as a competition thing, but seeing that people read posts like these and fantasize about a land flowing with milk and honey, it's necessary to enlighten the thread readers.

The port Harcourt OP is even coming from is way better than a lot of places in Accra, not to talk of Lagos and Abuja. We have better infrastructure too.

As per the light, our light in Nigeria (most parts) has greatly improved and is similar now to what you will obtain in Accra (if you factor in "Dumsor" or load shedding).

If you leave Accra and head to places like Kumasi and other sub regions, then you will understand that Nigeria is light years ahead of a lot of these African countries.

In summary, Ghana is a lovely country. Only go there if you have legitimate business being there. A lot of people go to foreign countries and end up in crime due to frustrations of not being able to secure a job or find something doing. Plan well before making life changing decisions you might end up regretting.

What Nigeria need is a bit of leadership and you will see that we can only be compared to just one or two countries in Africa. If you must leave Nigeria, head only to the UK, Canada, US, Australia and maybe Germany.
Nigeria is not better in any ramifications.

You can travel within Ghana without the fear of getting kidnapped.
The electricity you mentioned is not just a trivial issue.

A lot of Nigerians are tapping into legitimate profession in the global digital economy like Forex, Crypto, Content creation etc.

Lack of electricity is holding people back. Or is it the draconian Tinubu policies? Someone can move to Ghana just because of constant light

Also the value of their money has risen three times against the Naira since 2023 so what is better about this hellhole
