US speaks just one language which is English. I don't think there's any state you'll go in the US and you wouldn't be able to communicate because of language issues.

There are rural areas you'll go to in Nigeria that if you're not from that ethnicity you'll need an interpreter in order to communicate.

Plenty of them from north to south

For those asking why the USA is having that much languages, it's because of the native American languages which are still existing albeit many have gone extinct and the existing ones have very small amount of people who still speak them. So yes the original inhabitants of America before the British invaded had an extensive amount of tribes with unique languages.

The more languages spoken indigenously in any country, the more backward and remote that country was up until the 19th century. Dense jungle such as in places like Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Nigeria prevented easy land based movement of men and supplies needed to subdue people in those areas and enforce a commonality of language and culture upon them.

Don’t confuse dialects with languages. Stop spreading ignorance.

Though the Abakaliki dialect is the most difficult in Igbo language, other Igbos understand it.

Almost every Igbo person speaks the Onitsha dialect as it was the earliest to be used in translating the Bible into Igbo.

Baba our reality is much different from theirs. In Nigeria we have over 250 ethnic groups, by your logic we are suppose to have 250 different countries (with some having no more than 100,000 people), would this make sense.
There is strength in number, there is strength in our diversity. Our main problem is corruption and a wide spread lack of integrity. If we fight corruption and improve our values, it would not matter at all that we are 250 different people, it would not matter so much that we are even tribalistic or whatever. Spain is an example of a European country that is not particularly homogeneous with different regional identities but their society work much better than ours. In fact most European countries are now effectively heterogeneous because of the migrants of different races present, this has not stopped them. This too should not stop us

they would always hide behind the diversity nonsense to justify failed leadership, india,China and even south Africa are heterogeneous in nature, but these countries are better developed than Nigeria, while our diversity may present a challenge, our inability to navigate it for development is on us as a people

USA has many foreigners in their land, hence the 430 different languages. Yoruba, hausa, Igbo, Efik, TIV, Ibibio ,etc are all spoken in USA as well as Japanese, French, Spanish, Hindi, etc. The visitors brought their languages with them.

if this is the criterion used, then it should be up to 1k languages because almost all nations and people's of different language groups reside there
