Nigeria Military is not something you can just join. How old are you? Where did you school? Are you licenced to practice by the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council? Are you fit? Can you be a soldier?

Well you could also join as a civilian doctor; but your pay will not be as good as that of tour colleagues who are officers. Besides, the respect won't be there. I mean, you're a bloody civilian. When your colleague who is an officer comes, everyone will stand-up to salute. When you enter, no body will even greet you
lol… who told you our pay is good ?

You as a security personnel you will know better because you get more info on security matters than many of us, but my recommendation will be Akwa Ibom state of cross River state at least those are one of the safest states in Nigeria right now but anyone is free to add any other state he or she feels it's safe.

Hi Dr. TONYE001, please what are your thoughts on this?

Will this be a beneficial venture if Op decides to go this route?

I'm asking btw the Army, Navy or Air force... What sector is best for the time being
According to ranking/respect..the Nigerian Army comes first while Airforce is last... according to pay...the direct opposite is the case as corruption and hostile bosses happen to pin down opportunities in the Army, even career growth/development is stunted in the Army compared to the others.

Don't know much about the Air Force,

But the Navy and Army are both good, and it depends on your areas of specialization

Sir in the medical field it's not by rank and respect,
It's by specialization and experts

Hi doc,

I think it all depends on what OP wants. I don't know so much about the career pathways of doctors in the military; but from general knowledge, I hear they start from a fairly high rank (? Lieutenant) and progress well.

I think he should do proper research, speak with colleagues on the path and get good counsel before going in.

My best wishes are for him.

I don't think the army accepts just about anyone to be a military doctor. You didn't go through NDA and the army considers combat training a core component of the training of all its cadets.
Your training as a medical doctor is one thing. The ability to hold your nerves in an active theatre of combat is another thing.

However, if you must, the army requires that you are registered and up to date with the qualifications any doctor needs to practice in Nigeria. You mentioned that you are a consultant. If you are less than 40 years of age, then the army will welcome you.
What are you saying?

Who told you they have MBBS as a course in NDA?

Who told you Army doctors are combatants?

Good evening everyone

I've been a consultant doctor for few years in Sierra Leone but I'm thinking of joining the Nigerian military. I would love to raise my kids back home. Please which area should I consider. All answers will be duly appreciated. I'm Nigerian by the way. Thank you
Wait for DSSC form and apply.
If you're a consultant, you'll be commusioned with the rank of a major. Your service year is limited tho I think 15 years after which you have to convert to direct regular commisoning if you wish to continue your career.
